I really love all pets, but with cats, I suppose I have a link with them because I was raised with them since birth. As a young child, they were my first obsession--I would collect everything cat-related and get upset at anyone who would mess with my cat-collection. On a personal level, the family c...

The smell of the inside of a carved-out pumpkin. It's one of my favorite things, really.

I find the political loopholes that have enabled the Tea Party republican faction of the House to manipulate our system to this point insane. The politicians themselves are insanely stupid. I live in Washington DC and I will certainly be affected by this mess, and what's more, a number of my friends...

Thank you both for making me feel a lot better about what happened...after meltdowns I have a tendency to replay the worst bits in my head over and over again, so for a few days I was feeling that what happened that night was a lot more terrible than it really was...thank you for reassuring me that ...

My boyfriend at the time refused to take me to the prom because he didn't want people to know that he was dating me. Needless to say I dumped his arse the same day he let me in on that little revelation. As for the prom itself, I decided to go since some of my friends would be there. The theme was "...

Yeah, I'm with you on feeling age awkward. I'm always being told that I have an "old soul" (whatever the heck that means) and that I act extremely mature and calm, despite the fact that I am the youngest one of the group of friends that I sometimes hang out with. I just don't see the point of acting...

Between 2/3, recently diagnosed on the spectrum as high-functioning. As I'm learning more about what is to be an aspie and I spend my time on forums like this though, I like to think that I'm becoming more type 4 :)

Nail-biting drives me frickin' insane! My roommate does this, and even if she's across the room, it sounds like she's doing it in my ear. I have to scream at her to stop it every time. I can't stand it!

"Shout"--Tears For Fears (It's my rage song!)
"Across the Universe"--The Beatles
"Behind Blue Eyes"--The Who
"Take On Me"--A Ha (both the lyrics and the tune get me)
"Cosmic Castaway"--Electrasy (I took my login after this song on WP, so yeah, the lyrics strongly remind me of my own AS experience)

I've been on antidepressants for about 10 years now for panic and anxiety attacks. At first, I was terrified to go them for some kind of fear that they would change my personality or the way that I think. What really happened though, was that they took the edge off my anxiety and helped me to functi...

Some people say it as if it were a nervous tick, but for the most part I've learned that it's one of those social rules that I've needed to adjust to. Like opening doors for other people and occasionally smiling. It's annoying, yes, but when used properly it's not the worst thing in the world.

Great. Like it isn't enough that my roommate routinely likes to tell people that I "have no emotions" since I told her about my Aspergers diagnosis. Now these blowhards in the media are distorting soundbites the psychiatrists are putting out there to portray Aspies as potential sociopaths. Worst of ...
