Hello, I found a learning disability advocacy charity who were willing to help me try to get a social worker, since I can't look after myself very well. After a while they decided I wasn't learning disabled and told me not to contact them any more. I need a social worker and a support worker, but I ... |

PCOS sucks so much. I have a couple of good friends who struggle with it. They take something that's usually for diabetics, but you have to speak to an endocrinologist to get it prescribed because most doctors who don't specialise don't realise how helpful it is. Let me just try and find out what it... |

Kazma, you should absolutely tell the therapist about potential ASDs. I think it would help them to understand where your situation and hopefully how your brain works. Better communication and understanding is really good for helping therapy to work, I think. |

That is exactly the information I was looking for but didn't know it yet, and you said it beautifully. The rest of your message was also very cool. Thank you. |

I just got back from the appointment and it was for ASD diagnosis after all, but the woman was a student and had no experience of ASDs and said I looked normal and pleasant. *sigh* It sounds like your CBT was successful mainly because someone is teaching you how to behave socially more than it being... |

CosmicRuss, that is very helpful, thanks. :) I just got a call from the psychiatric services receptionist, which leads to confusion. I called her recently to ask about when I'd be able to see someone who specialises in ASDs, and she said I was on a waiting list and would call me back to let me know ... |

Rebbieh, now that I think about it, all my reasons fit those boxes. That might be really helpful - I'm going to keep and eye on those situations and see if the future meltdowns fit too. Thanks for sharing. |

I've got an appointment for CBT later today and I've recently found out from an Aspie friend that CBT is not really helpful to people on the spectrum. I was wondering if anyone here has an ASD and has tried CBT? If so, was it helpful or not, and why?
Thanks! |

I don't think there's a single cause of meltdowns. I only just started getting non-verbal terrified catatonic state thingies (I'm 26), and I'm not sure of the cause, but sometimes I'm pretty functional as long as I don't try to communicate even in writing or with eye contact. It'll likely change gra... |

Rage, I hear a lot of FTM guys say that the body issues never really go away. :( I think testosterone is cheaper, but I've not really looked into it. Where I am (UK), the National Health Service take care of the cost by default, you just turn up and talk to them and that's it. But there are still so... |

Tensionheadache, that's something that bothers a lot of genderqueer people, I think. (I mean, androgyny is women in men's clothes, and men also in men's clothes.) One friend helped me to understand by saying that in our society, masculine is the default and the variation is femininity. So men's clot... |

So the bit we don't know is whether he kissed her with the understanding that she had a vagina, and whether or not she knew this or could have expected this. |

Hm yes, fair enough. But even though you would feel deceived, I still don't think the penis-owner would have any obligation to inform you of their genitals before the crucial moment. |

If she doesn't feel comfortable disclosing that she's a transwoman, then she is perfectly free not to start kissing someone who doesn't know. She exploited him, and she is wholly and entirely in the wrong for doing that. ... I vehemently disagree that their biological sex is not anybody else's busi... |

I fully agree with you, Rorberyllium. I'll admit that finding out in the heat of the moment is not a good time to find out for either party, but sometimes things just turn out like that. And you're allowed to back out of a sexual or romantic situation at any point for any reason without feeling guil... |
