I really don't think it's necessary to go and insult the entire forum here. Yes, that is interesting and I think you are really onto something here. I think I am realising that I lack the 'follow the crowd'/herd mentality and instead I tend to stand up for the 'little guy'. Seemingly attributes but...

Lady Katie, as one of the only people on this forum with the capacity to realise that there are two sides to every story and that your husband may not necessarily share your point of view or appreciate how exaggerated you portray him as a terrible husband and father, I would like to say something (p...

^^^ I'd happily accept a woman willing to be an equal partner! Especially in North American culture, many women (note: not all ) are becoming the aggressors and dominators - having the final say in all matters, having their will done in every circumstance. Gals still say they want a confident man w...

5. ACT VULNERABLE. men have an inbuilt trigger to care for vulnerable ladies. You just hit the nail on the head right there. Role change is the key and the only way to force him to change his role is to change your own. It is inside of him (believe me), he wants to, you are not letting him. It is i...

I am assuming that figure skating is in some ways similar to what I do. About visual/spatial, imagine having to judge not for yourself but for 1500 lb animals, who do not particularly like primates bouncing around on their back. Dressage is called "ballet on horseback" and figure skating is "ballet ...

Your job experience, to me, would be the exception rather than the rule. I would never know how you felt in that certain situation because I don't personally know how "connecting" feels like, but I know I've always had to be civil and "fake it" one way or the other. Normal, Neurotypicals do it all ...

You are so right, it is heaven to be in the arena isn't it? Whether the dressage arena or the skating arena.. and these are both less common sports too. How did you get into figure skating? My mom and sister got into it; my mom b/c she grew up on a lake where she skated and my sister was just good a...

I say and do a lot of inappropriate things, and most of the time people think it's funny because it is due more to naivete rather than ignorance. It is naivety for me too. I have always been sheltered to the extreme and I am still laughed at for all of the things I havn't experienced that others ha...

when I was a child you could see the symptoms in a more exaggerated way. It is not that it get better with age, it is just we cope better w/ age. Like when I was a kid I was a picky eater, nowdays I eat the same food every day for months at a time. As a kid I took twenty minutes to get dressed b/c I...

No one goes through life without getting messed up. Also, I've never faked being anybody but myself, it has made me more of an outcast but I like who I am and the people that still appreciate me. I am so motivated now to do just that: be myself 100% AS and all and expect other people to accept me j...

I completely agree, and I know that I must have some serious issues after pretending I am someone I am not for so long! But what I want to do is become true to myself, accept myself even with my ASD, and by doing that begin to recognize all of the distortions (quircks) that I have adopted over the y...

It is also a good place to start working and meet new people and practice social skills, since you will be bored out of your mind if you don't. Wow that is so true and is the only thing in the world that can get me within 50 feet of another human being or get me to even pretend to be a little bit f...

so many good points! A/b finding a half way decent boyfriend and a/b the extra social pressure when I feel like I "should" be the one everyone kind of "looks to" in a social situation but then I turn out to be such a disappointment to other people, and then another person has to take the lead b/c I ...

1. Having trouble with life, maybe have developed comorbid mood or personality disorders, need access to assistance. I am so brand new to this and good points keep being brought up. My question is, how can someone with ASD, and who has never known they have it, and who has been faking it that they ...
