I am obsessed with 2001: A Space Odyssey I love that book too. I think it's the only time a book and a movie complemented one another. As for the other books in the series, well, if you haven't read them don't bother. I think Clarke just needed the money :) . I'm pretty obsessed with House of Leave...

Look here Ken, I think you need to reconsider this whole relationship thing. See, relationships lead to marriage and marriage my friend can be Hell on earth. Once married, you can look forward to the following: 1) zero privacy 2) once a year luke-warm sex 3) the loss of your manhood :) I'm only part...

American Gods...no, wait, Neverwhere. Well, everything he writes is really good, but if I had to pick one I'd say American Gods.

Thanks SpectreWithin! Now I'm even more interested, but a little overwhelmed with everything. The Second Life world is huge. I've managed to change my clothes and chatted with a few other noobs. Do you know of any good "getting started" guides? I did the tutorial when I registered and that was helpf...

I recently gave up caffeine, so neither. Couldn't sleep. I do like herbal teas though.

My first experience with programming was copying basic programs out of the Boy Scout Boy's Life magazines. I used to copy stuff out of magazines too. I think it was the "3-2-1 Contact" magazine but I'm not sure. They were really long Basic programs. I used to just enter all the lines of code and (n...

So, yesterday I downloaded the Second Life Linux client and (after some video driver tweaking) signed up for a (free) account. My initial opinion is that it seems very promising. I'm a huge fan of Neal Stephenson's Snow Crash so I really want to see this virtual world idea take off. The Linux client...

I really like this idea. We don't have the instincts to interact socially, therefore we observe and process NT social interactions to such a degree that we actually become wiser. You could compare this to the blind person who has an excellent sense of hearing. I wonder if psychology is a good field ...

Well, I don't watch the OC and haven't read Hamlet since high school. They sound like good examples though. My choice would be the friendship between Lucius Vorenus and Titus Pullo on HBO's Rome.

I would say most of Stanley Kubrick's movies are classics, but a lot of people have trouble watching. I tried watching 2001 and Dr. Strangelove when I was younger and didn't make it through. Now that I am older these are among my favorite movies.

"Cool as Ice" featuring the one and only Vanilla Ice. Now, this is a truly awful movie, but it does put me in a better mood when I'm depressed. Yes, there is someone out there more socially clueless than myself, and that man's name is Vanilla Ice!

Yes! I love wandering in the woods and nature preserve by my house for hours. I feel recharged afterwards. Cities are great too. If you're from the US and you ever go to Europe, try wandering Rome. It's amazing!
