I remember gas at .89-.98 a gallon US when I was in HS. And I saw it over $5/gal when I lived in SoCal. |

Sans rent. Sans wood, but I'll be needing it to cook.
My first concern is getting my stored belongings from point A to point B without overdoing it yet again. |

Somebody I know owns an older house that is empty. It has a new roof and a fireplace, so I will be warm and dry. |

An old BF and I were into "tinkering" and what he gave me was a pair of gun muffs (like for using at a shooting range) with the center foam removed and headphone speakers put in it's place. You might need a little electrical tape to get the speakers to stay put. They were Wonderful!! ! I will be mak... |

I have trouble getting out of one. I love long hot showers. A psych friend once mentioned it might be like static (white noise) for my skin. Maybe? |

Thanks for the support, friends. A good situation came up today and I acted on it. It'll be a little rough and I will probably lose my internet connection for awhile, but I'll have a roof over my head in a nice quiet place. Ah! |

Thanks for the replies. Yes, patience has been the name of the "game" all year.
I am located in AR.
My biggest problem with a shelter will probably be the noise level. I did get food assistance, and I am proof Obamacare works! |

I am in a very bad situation, & I see this might be a problem for other adult autistics in the future. I am in the disability process for more than just autism...ptsd and a serious neurological problem. I was staying with (abusive) family and suddenly I was told I needed to leave for my own safe... |

You could put on a sombrero, and go sit in a grocery store parking lot with a bottle of Corona and lime, and just greet random people as they walk by!

I did a similar experiment at a mall several years ago to determine if it was sensory overwhelm or anxiety (docs were not sure). I used ear plugs on my own, and stopped at the food court and tried to read and see if I could focus on music via headphones. It was clearly sensory overload. I have ptsd ... |

This sounds like what NT's call a rut. People can be depressed without being suicidal. Have you thought about contacting a gaming company to work as a developer in testing? Believe it or not, some people get paid to play. Asperger's can be a benefit doing that because you may notice coding flaws oth... |

I am not fond of the shallow conversations either, but science, history, geography? I like! I've noticed they aren't very proper subjects for my usual social contacts either. Unfortunately, if I really get into discussing my favorite science interest here it's been proven too easy to figure out who ... |

Sometimes we tread water. I'm sorry you are feeling this way. I feel like that about talking sometimes. People are not comfortable with quiet so they feel the empty space with questions. Try not answering them. Will there be a consequence to fear? Suddenly that empty space is not filled so innocentl... |
