I'm male. I look male. But when i look in the mirror i see a stranger. It's not about gender for me, i just don't feel like i look. It stands to reason that anyone one the AS might have an issue correlating their image with their psyche. As far as gender is concerned, i really can't identify with ei... |

Water pipes fascinate me. Air vents, not unless Bruce Willis is in them. |

Online is hard, I need time to review my words so, no chatting. Phone calls are difficult as well, I just don't answer and text back if they left a voice mail. |

I've always preferred dogs, the pack mentality and rules are intriguing and the lack of a litter box is appealing. I rescued a kitten once and raised him like a dog, which worked surprisingly well. |

That's looks very deep into the spectrum. I'm not really sure what to make of the number differences - I would have thought a very high aspie to neurotypical ratio would lead to a very difficult employment situation. What kind of work did you do before? Civil engineering. It was very hard to handle... |

Can't we all just get along? To me it seems rather unlikely that the world can be divided cleanly this way. Most people who I would consider normal turn out to have their own set of quirks once you get to know them better. I concur. I think a lot of people with AS got bullied by the normal kids and... |

I'm still trying to figure what exactly it means to be neurotypical. Judging from some comments on this site, you'd think it's a curse. Is it merely about suppressing eratic behaviour? Regarding tantrums, I occationally have ridiculous venting sessions at home (which I usually come to regret) or I ... |

Well, it's not quick but http://rdos.net/eng/ gives results and a breakdown of traits. I don't recall which thread though. |

I'm sorry your life got upturned like that. Sounds cataclysmic! I aspire to live by the mantra "truth before utility" so I don't think being true to yourself is ever bad thing. I guess I'm a bit confused as to what you mean by "pretending to be normal" and how that led you to snap. Mimicry is a com... |

While having a preference for a larger sphere of personal space than others, I've also felt compelled to genuinely connect with other people. The latter need has been satisfied by a close relationship with my wife but, nevertheless, I'm often bothered by the superficiality of connections beyond my ... |

If you don't mind me asking, how did AS contribute to ending the marriage and the job? The short answer is I was pretending to be normal, and thus went into both situations under false pretenses. The stress eventually was too much to bear and I lost it. At work I wrote a scathing letter to manageme... |
