This all started when Autism $peaks, once again, engineered a high-level "policy summit" with no Autistics included in planning, leadership, or decisionmaking roles. What do you expect from an organization that continually refers to autistic children as "tragic burdens" to their families and calls ...

Thank you Paula!

I also want to stress that we are trying to help divert funding to more local charities that actually do help.

We are compiling a list of them, it just takes some time.

-I correct people, or get "technical" with them, which almost always leads to hurt feelings,a debate or both -I've been told I am rude, insensitive and offensive -I post hijack unintentionally (working on that) -I am very long winded. But, when I try to cut out the small details no one understands my...

We often lack cognitive empathy, which means understanding what someone is going through, relating to it and knowing how to respond it. We typically have affective (emotional) empathy, which means we do feel emotions (often times way too much) The whole reason we have the lack of empathy stigma is pu...

My mom doesn't care because she thinks that I am not doing as much as I can to get better. She doesn't understand that from the second I wake up to the second I go to sleep, I am thinking about how to avoid bad smells, perfumes, shampoos, smoke, etc. I used to wake up in the morning and be excited ...

The medication is Venlafaxine XR (Effexor XR). The reason that I don't want to take it is because I lose all of my thoughts. I can no longer concentrate on anything, and my memory is HORRIFIC. My mom said that she doesn't care what happens anymore because I had such a hard time in school last year ...

I don't know if it's illegal in your country. In the states running away could get you put in juvenile hall depending on the surrounding circumstances. (typically if you are a repeat offender and some other illegal things go along with it) I ran away twice at your age. They always find you, and when...

I wouldn't say anything until I was officially diagnosed. I realized I had Aspergers about a year ago, I was just diagnosed in June of this year I did share my epiphany with my family. I tried sharing it with the one friend I had at the time, prior to my evaluation, which lead to her telling me all ...

That's because she is a year old. She hasn't really formed an attention span yet.
You should look up normal brain development, lots of the things you are worried about are 100% within norms.

I suppose one can say that I have had a problem with this in the past. As I get older I have far too much going on to continue with arguments that have no effect on my present situation. When I would continue to engage in what others may perceive as keeping an argument going, I was not intentionally...

Before my AS diagnosis I was diagnosed with OCD. In my evaluation report it states that my AS diagnosis encompasses the symptoms that were observed and previously labeled OCD , so there is no need for a stand alone label.

So basically you are not getting validation for your very valid feelings. I have had this happen over and over again with my parents. I have found that a lot of my problem with not being able to let go of certain things stems from the fact that my feelings were never validated by those who were sup...

I don't know. But I personally find it degrading that he posted that. I would divorce my husband for this.

I have had meltdowns that kind of looked like that

I don't know about anything that lead up to this, so I can't say if it's an autism thing or not.

:) I like that idea. Of being paid for some of the advocacy work I do! And, one site says I am "starring" in this film. I am SO not an actress, and the one comment where someone said it seemed like I was talking to the husband rather than the filmmaker- actually I *was* saying that to the filmmaker...

Thank You for your help. The current pinion that I am dealing with is dating and relationships. My NT friend has dated many previous girls because he dates them (including holding hands and kissing) weeks after meeting them. He says that it can be tough dealing with ex-girlfriends though. My Mom an...
