Yes I am in the US. I am not sure if he uses the ADOS at all. The one place I know locally that told me they use it does not take my insurance. The doctor's explanation on the rating scale was that assessment of my son by the people most familiar with him is the most critical part of the diagnostic ... |

I have a 4 year old son whose official label right now is "developmentally delayed" and is receiving services through our school district. We've suspected he is on the autism spectrum since 2.5 when his primary care doctor suggested it. He saw a developmental pediatrician at 3 but the DP's opinion w... |

her eye contact so reminds me of my 3 year old. So does her voice. My son often sounds like a little robot. And the lined up dinosaurs. He's not mensa level but he is incredibly smart and was reading his alphabet letters in print at 18 months and is now at 3 starting to read sight words. He also mem... |

We talked to his speech therapist yesterday. She had done the same language assessment as the school over the last few weeks and had the same conclusion that he does not really need speech therapy right now. I agree with her. He really speaks well now. Being in preschool I think will be the best thi... |

We met with the school today. The school psychologist said essentially the same things as the developmental pediatrician: possible pragmatic language delay, possible autism spectrum (which he said he could not diagnose but he did say much of how our son behaves is in line with being on the autism sp... |

He did not do any formal assessments with him. Just based everything off of the evaluation early intervention did in November and the files from his OT and SLP since they are part of the same hospital system. He's verbal and speaks well now after over a year of therapy and i feel like a large part o... |

My son had his developmental pediatrician visit today. No diagnosis. The doctor said while he has some autistic traits as well as adhd traits but he said there just isn't a clear diagnosis yet. He wants to see how he does with starting in developmental preschool when he turns 3 next month and follow... |

Where I live the school district has to take over at 3 and early intervention helps with the transition process. My son is 3 on March 10 and we are in the process right now. We have either had our family resource coordinator or his EI teacher attend all the transition meetings with us which has made... |

My son is as of yet undiagnosed but we see the developmental pediatrician next week. He turns 3 next month and I have noticed the melt downs have become more irrational. Always before we expected meltdowns when he couldn't cope with changes in routine or not getting his own way but lately he has bee... |

This sounds like my son. In the last month he has squeezed out two tubes of toothpaste, three bottles of dish soap, two cans of carpet powder, a box of cheerios. I'm not even sure that is a complete list but I feel you. |

We've been getting OT and speech along with an EI teacher while waiting on an official diagnosis and I have wondered that myself. He's come a long way but so many things happened way later than they should have and he still has a lot of behaviors. Things like meltdowns have improved not because my s... |

Thanks to melatonin and a weighted blanket we've managed to cut down the 3 or 4 times a night to lately once maximum. At almost 3 he is finally sleeping through the night. We've only had 2 night wake ups this week so it's getting to be pretty consistent. Weighted blankets are expensive but I was abl... |

Thank you for the replies :) There are days when I am sure he is on the spectrum and other days where I doubt it. He has improved so much through speech therapy and he just started OT last month. His speech therapist started doing some testing with him and his receptive and expressive language seems... |

I have never met a real-life "cured" person, but I'd have to say the video "evidence" of people who have supposedly been cured has always been less than convincing to me. The people are still quirky and odd. So what I see is someone who has learned to compensate for their deficits, not someone who ... |
