I started on 50mg in mid-October this year, (so 2.5 months ago) and my dosage was raised to 100mg about a month ago. Hmm, that is a bit odd I think. I started on 50mg too and went up to 100mg after about 3 weeks and didn't notice side effects past the first two weeks. If they're still happening aft...

How long have you been taking the sertraline? It's normal to have quite a few side effects in the first 2-3 weeks of taking it, I had quite bad nausea in the first 2 weeks. Didnt have anything else though really. Took it for about 2 months and it didnt help me so we changed to Cymbalta.

ooohkay, wait a moment here. you're thinking that understanding his autism will help improve your relationship. to be clear, this is offensive. for example, if you cant get along with your friend tyrone and you believe this to be the case because you havent done enough research on black people and ...

I suspect it's actually more like a large catalog with a quick processor. Yes, that's a good way to describe what it's like for me. I observe and store away a ton of information, and when I need to, my subconscious recalls and analyses that data to give me the information I need at the time. The re...

I seem to have an incredibly well developed sense of intuition (though not in all instances, especially not social situations), and am wondering if this is a common autistic trait? I think it's a result of the combination of my close attention to detail, ability to notice patterns that most people c...

In my life I've met maybe 5 people at best, who've accepted me for who I am, 1 or 2 at worst. Unfortunately so many people in this world are highly self centered, and only keep friends who they can benefit from in some way. My only real advice is that you just have to get out there and meet people. ...

Me: I am exhausted from work, feel sick to my stomach, and in general feel like I'm losing it. I am so upset. Him: Why are you upset? In this brief passage i actually think you haven't understood the conversation rather than the opposite, by saying "why are you upset" hes allowing/Cueing you to con...

Thanks for the responses, they were all interesting to read.

I'm also wondering, how far would you go to retain your ability to pursue your special interest? Would you go to extreme lengths, even if it would be detrimental to other aspects of your life?

If for whatever reason you were no longer able to pursue your special interest, perhaps because of physical impairment, lifestyle changes, work etc etc, how would that affect you? How would you react to that? The reason I ask is because I've been unable to pursue my special interest of playing guita...

If anyone had asked me a year ago if I had any behaviour that fitted the definition of stimming, I would have told them no, nothing that was obvious to me. However a couple of months ago, before I even became aware of stimming or the fact that I am quite likely on the spectrum, I developed some unus...

OK, here is my input, in one sentence. Sam Mendes manages to bring the same kind of conceptual mastery to James Bond that Christopher Nolan managed to do with Batman. That is my high praise. Exactly what I thought! It's not without its faults (like Nolan's movies too), but I still thoroughly enjoye...

1. 13 (remake of 13 Tzameti) - Dear god this movie was beyond awful. Absolutely mind-blowingly atrocious. 2. Cut 3. The Happening 4. Babylon AD 5. The Day the Earth Stood Still (remake) 6. Hana-bi (what's with all the praise for Takeshi Kitano? I can't stand his acting) 1) Epic Movie 2) Sunshine 3) ...

@Laserwater I'm very similar to you too. I'm quite sure I'm on the spectrum, but at the same time I'm not sure if my behaviour can be considered a 'disorder' as it doesn't seem severe enough. Though with me, I think my social issues are a bit more noticeable and my sensory issues less noticeable. I ...

I became moderately fluent in Spanish when I lived in Spain for a few months. The thing that stands out the most for me is how I exponentially improved after about 2 months. From day one of arriving there I took 4 hours of language class, 5 days a week. For the first two months my improvement in bot...
