http://www.publicinsightnetwork.org/form/opb/270010a0434f/do-you-have-the-mental-health-support-you-need-for-your-child For those who have kids with additional diagnoses beyond Autism and Asperger's, this is an opportunity to shape the news or call for reform. It is also an opportunity to teach the ...

I like the article. Although the best way to teach music is like a language. I believe same for math. My parents did and I do not rely on schools for education. They teach whatever they do, but I educate. So that creative play is done at home. My kid hears about the great people, the history of who ...

To rabbittss Math is like a language. Some languages have different rules than English. There is a convention in math so we all speak the same language. But math is not English. You can actually create math rules and see where it takes you. But you will find few if any who will understand. You may b...

Thanks. I will modify the question. This issue needs to be public. Any kid sexually abused can become a behavior problem. So everyone own's this. Kids often act out rather than talk so they get misdiagnosed.

This is not scientific. But you as a community seem articulate. This poll is about 18 yrs and less. I had it pointed out this forum in this area can be read by nonmembers, so feel free to be generic in your response. As I have become more involved by work, volunteering, friends, and now family with ...

Did anyone else read that the car did not belong to his mom but a man named Christopher Rodia? http://i.imgur.com/KmUBf.jpg Also, why would Adam Lanza destroy his own hard drive if he was a troubled man that knew he was going to commit suicide and homicide? Cover his tracks? How? Makes me wonder if...

I'm sorry, is the point here something like, this shooting had nothing to do with the fact that the shooter was autistic? You realize that's absurd, right? You are entitled to your opinion, no matter how wrong it is. And you are very wrong. It is not absurd. It's a fact supported by the M.E. invest...

I suspect many find math hard because of how it is taught. I was stuck at Algebra until I discovered review books. Simple, plain bare bones. Then I excelled and did calculus in High school. With my kid, he always seemed to have an intuitive mathematical mind as a preschooler. Then school. They manag...

My last post on this but I am interested in response to proposals as it will affect my action plan if I hear some better ideas to use. To bring this home, forget about your kid ever being a mass murderer. That's not the point. Wonderful autistic kids get sexually abused in school, bullied sometimes ...

My keypad froze. So I am older. How my violent schoolmates were handled. If the teen pulled a knife on the teacher, the exmarine physics teacher who was unassuming and acted usually like a clown, would quickly disarm the kid. Then pin them. No more incidents for that kid. No police. Just principals ...

I have never been an organizer but if this community cannot even get behind the need for a non police force use with kids back to the old days, to allowing parents to stay overnight, then I have a larger education task and need for action. I have Asperger's so it takes a lot to bring me to tears. Bu...

I hear the exact opposite. She is saying your kid will be safer in school if her kid gets appropriate help. It is your problem. My extended family's kids have been injured by undertreated kids with issues in school. She is saying maybe the system is taking treatable kids and traumatizing them. I hav...

I kept thinking about what you posted and things I have not thought of in a while came back. The way you express yourself reminds me of the person who helped me the most in life. As someone which Asperger's, I was fascinated by the fact that my roommate with bipolar disorder who had a horrible self ...

Others have beautifully expressed what I believe also. So I just will add 2 thoughts. The people I finally related to and made friends with were deep thinkers like you. Most people walk through life superficially, never asking the questions you ask. Yet those questions matter. Society needs you beca...
