I do definitely care about my appearance, but I don't go overboard. I work in a professional office environment, so I have to dress to a certain standard. I keep my hair in a short wash-and-wear cut so I don't have to fight with it too much in the morning. I won't dye it because I like the color it ... |

I got engaged to my first husband at 15 and we got married as soon as I turned 18. We really, truly loved each other and were loyal to each other in the extreme. Since we knew we wanted to get married, we wanted to go ahead with the wedding before college so we didn't have to do both at once. We wer... |

I'm on depo for now because my doc is worried that the pill could give me blood clots. The first three months were a bear--I spotted almost constantly and gained 15 pounds because it made me so hungry. Things evened out right after the second shot, though. The weight isn't coming off, but I haven't ... |

I'm an Aspie mom to an Aspie teen and I don't think either of us would have it any other way. He and I are "from the same planet" and have a better relationship than most moms and teens, IMHO. I had some problems early on, but I can see through the retrospect-o-scope how they could have been avoided... |

I just got hired at a small magazine publisher to do IT troubleshooting, copy writing and editing, and general dotting of i's and crossing of t's. I searched for six months and a week. In this economy and with my challenges, that is pretty darn good. Go me! |

How were you not doing well at work? If you can learn from that challenge and move on with a new job (easier said than done, I know), that'll help a lot in every way. |

I've just landed a job after a six-month search. I'll be an editor, IT troubleshooter, and administrative assistant at a small magazine publisher. The job posting came to me through my state Workforce Services. I took a few workshops with them and, while they didn't really give me any new informatio... |

Honestly, I think one's employer shouldn't ever know about one's disabilities. If one requires accommodations in the job, Human Resources is the right place to go. They can arrange for the accommodations without disclosing the nature of the disability to one's direct supervisor. I have disclosed bef... |

That's funny, I spent my first several working years in hospitality. I quit my job every four months or so because I couldn't take the stress and the dumb people  I'm in sales now, but not the kind of sales that requires me to talk to customers all day. I write proposals and support business d... |

Welcome! My son was diagnosed at age 3, and by 2nd grade we had him on a good track with behavioral support in school. There were definitely hurdles, like his kindergarten teacher calling him a "nightmare" and the principal demanding he take medication (we changed schools pretty rapidly), but we've ... |

Hey folks, As the title suggests, I'm an aspie raising an aspie. (I suspect I was also raised by a bunch of aspies, but let's not start diagnosing the whole world.) My son was diagnosed at age three, but I didn't get diagnosed myself until age 32. Needless to say, I have my work cut out for me. That... |
