I do that when I'm tired and trying to get my brain working - it's definitely a verbal stim. It is also more common when I'm stressed. I try to remember not to let it happen in public but if I'm over-stressed or over-tired it does anyway. Whatevs.

Yes, but it's one thing that I've improved somewhat over time, that and remembering names. I'm still crap at it but no longer 100% hopeless. I definitely think it's Aspie-related because it's a clear social deficit.

Hmmm, you mean like peeing hemoglobin when tried on a new mood stabilizer? As in, liver malfunctioning to the point of shunting its filtering role to the kidneys? And the acute pancreatitis I had a year ago after a course of acyclovir for a shingles outbreak? That one had me in the hospital for 3 da...

Just today I tried to explain the effect of unexpected distractions to my boss - I have ADHD and Aspergers - and she literally laughed in my face. She apparently thought I was just trying to make an excuse for what she thought was rude behavior (because my tone of voice was flat on the phone when sh...

Absolutely - I get this all the time. The tone of my voice is also often mistaken for angry or dismissive. I have NO idea how to change this but it's one of the biggest problems I face with my Aspergers - it makes people completely misinterpret my personality and intentions. I find that people often...

I have an unusual job for someone with Aspergers - I'm a postpartum doula, and a really good one. It's the one-on-one connection with a new mom and that shared experience of having a new baby (which is also probably an area of my own hyperfocus). Mind blindness my arse. I can be extremely in tune wi...

My shrinky-dink said the same thing. She also said if I DID have Aspergers then she couldn't treat my depression and anxiety with psychotherapy. Um, can't people with Aspergers have attachment issues and crappy childhoods and traumatic life experiences like anyone else? I'm just starting the process...

I feel like I wear all my emotions on my sleeve - but apparently my facial expressions and tone of voice rarely match what I'm feeling - and are usually interpreted negatively - like I'm angry or distant or aloof or whatever, even if that's the opposite of what I'm actually feeling. Confuses the hel...

Yes, melt-downs and sensory overload are hyper in the 7-10 days before AF. Unrelated to Aspergers, I can also drink gallons of coffee like it's water - it has no effect on me. The minute AF arrives, a half cup of coffee is more than enough.

To explain it to my husband I said it's like Grendel in the new(ish) Beowulf - the CG one with the throbbing eardrum. My right eardrum literally throbs like that. And my emotional response is pretty much like Grendel's, too.

I've been working at the same job for 4 years, but according to my boss (who doesn't want to hear anything about my psychological and neurological conditions) I'm on my last straw with them. She blew up at me today out of nowhere because she said my tone on the phone was "dismissive". I actually was...
