In America, few people work in exactly one job (or even same industry/job duties) for their entire adult life. It is the exception these days that someone might work 30+ years with the same employer. Even if you are a great employee, they will eventually nudge you out the door at most places. Worry ...

If you want to be unhappy, read the comments to every news story, blog post, video, etc. In general, it is going to be a negative experience and you will wish you had never bothered. I recommend the rule be that you don't read them and, if you do, don't ever take them seriously.

Tekneek, you interpreted the job interviewer's question too literally. What they want to know from this kind of question is basically: Why do you think you are well-suited for this job? and What can you offer that most people probably cannot? A job interview is a negotiation. They are looking for s...

How can I "believe" I am the best, without some objective way of arriving at that conclusion? I like to deal with facts, and there is usually not enough data available when you don't know who the competition is.

There is a reason for everything, even if we don't know why something happened, there is a reason for it. It's funny that you mention Natalee, I, too, wonder why God allowed her to die, although it could be because he "called her home" so to speak. She and her family are in my prayers. A God who wo...

"If God cannot prevent bad things from happening, why should I care about God?" No idea. I guess that if he interfered with our lives, it would, in a way, violate the freedom that He has given us. If I have a life without God's interference whether he exists or not, why would it matter to me whethe...

Interesting thread to revisit for me. All these years later (from my other contribution to this thread), I ended up being laid off in a huge restructuring from that job that (in retrospect) was really something special. I spent 9 difficult months trying to find another one. I don't really like my ne...

The important question is not really "Why does God allow bad things to happen?", but rather, "If God cannot prevent bad things from happening, why should I care about God?"

I was unemployed for 9 months in 2008. All the rougher because I had a wife and 3 children depending on me to provide for them. There were days where I felt like driving into oncoming traffic, because I found it so hard to deal with. All the advice for finding a new job was very difficult for me. I ...

I had read about her having AS-like characteristics in the past, but never anything definitive coming from her. I always liked her. Amazing that she has been able to make a go of it in an industry that seems to really put style over substance 95% of the time.

The problem for me is a "smacking" noise while talking, although the sound of it while someone is eating can be rough for me, as well. I suspect the problem is getting worse. Either that, or there is an epidemic of it in the world. I am an information junkie, so I love to listen to podcasts, but I a...

Adam Sandler was relatively funny on SNL but his movies aren't funny to me at all. Acting like an immature, obnoxious idiot isn't funny.

Only funny thing I remember him doing on SNL was a Jeopardy skit. As I recall it, his main line was, "Who are the ad wizards who came up with this one?"

I suppose it comes down to hobby being something you do in your spare time and an aspie-type obsession being something you might blow off real responsibilities for. I've done things like that many times over the years, blowing off school, work, family, friends, so on. They all seemed like great idea...

If it is simply a conversation starter, not being based on anything else at all, then I would presume that they definitely don't want to know what you really think of anything. Just like when they ask, "How are you?" 99% of the time. They don't really want to know how you are doing. It is some ritua...

Might as well go for it. Never know when it might become important, and you probably only have to take the test once. One and done. Not a bad deal. As long as you pay attention to detail, it shouldn't be too hard. I did not get my license until I was 20, which was well behind the curve at that time ...

I'm not exatly sure why you've decided to post this, and i certainly disagree with those who would say the bank teller is rude. Also i'm not exactly sure why your mother would randomly tell a stranger than you are autistic. I don't randomly tell strangers about my medical issues unless it's releven...
