Have you ever wondered how much sense you make to a Neurotypical? I am worried all the time about if I make sense to them or if my logic is inspired by pinkfloyd i.e. I am on drugs or something. Well, I've always known that some people can't make head nor tail of me...! But if you want to find out ...

The child has been diagnosed with AS, and has previously attended a school specifically for Autistic kids. His parents have transfered him to my school in the hope of 'making him normal'. His functioning in class is fine, although, at the moment he is seeking approval from one of the most popular b...

The main difference is difficulty with math. People who have both AS and NLD have difficulty with math whereas people who have just AS do not necessarily have difficulty with math. Do you have any references for this, umbra? And do you think that some people only have NLD? Do you think there's a di...

Actually, I think aspie women do have a "look" (as do perhaps the men, but sometimes I notice it more in the women, at least judging from the pictures I've seen here). They have a sort of spooked, disconnected look to them, like they were just startled. I think the one gender only picture threads a...

Unfortunately Scrulie, if you are just ASD without co-morbid conditions they can't treat you so they make no money. They can't have that, so many of them look for co-morbid symptoms. In other words, your startle effect or over sensitivity to touch becomes sexual abuse as a youngster. Your frustrati...

I had a dx of BPD for over four years. I recently requested to be assessed for an ASD as I did not feel I really was BPD. It was only an intermediate assessment by the generic community psychiatric team but they concluded that I had 'no mental health problems' which I guess means I no longer fit th...

Every waking moment...it's because I've always got so many things wrong that I am now programmed to think, think, think before I do anything out of the routine. It buggers me up for days and weeks if I get even the littlest thing wrong in a social exchange. I cringe and cringe and can't face myself...

Well, in all my voracious reading since dx, quite often I've seen NVLD and AS compared. The NVLD 'symptoms' list seems to be evolving with 'experts' very divided on what's what. I can see why NVLD 'experts' would want to have a new syndrome (it's caused by the PPM syndrome - the Prestige, Power, Mon...

Psychiatry basically equals practicing witch doctors. There's nothing objective or scientific about it at all. It's some people who call themselves "doctors" but merely practice subjective observations, then either try to talk you better or drug you better. The whole area ought to be thrown in the ...

I hate the feeling of sugar or anything even slightly gritty in my mouth. I'll cut off the sugary stuff on cakes and don't eat those biscuits and desserts with sugar sprinkled on top. Yuk, repulsive even to think about it.

The shrinks have labeled it under their realm even though they know it's a Neurological condition. [/quote]

Hmmm...wonder why...? Wouldn't have anything at all to do with money and power...? Surely not....

The Dx is Major Depression. But the label is the word psychiatric. For example, if I showed up at the Emergency with appendicitis, nobody would treat me until a psychiatrist authorized it. Also, once I went to a new family doctor and he looked at the referral slip and he yelled, "Oh no! Not psychia...

EI - I found your post interesting and thought provoking. Thanks. A few thoughts, FWIW, which I shall keep as brief as I can... 1. You sound really worn out with thinking and trying to do things right. I am sorry that you're feeling like this. May I suggest that you force yourself to have some time ...
