How can you tell the difference between ASD and Gifted? It seems to be a fine line, but the issues seem to be the biggest difference when it comes to defining the experience. http://autismandoughtisms.wordpress.com/2011/08/19/distinguishing-giftedness-from-aspergers-will-the-dsm-5-help/ http://www....

I have ADHD and there are many overlaps, I would think going in with a realistic perspective of what you can come out with it would be very positive. If you're looking for ND social butterflies you are probably in a good place. Adult ADHD is hard and does effect "adult expectations" when NTs are inv...

You may not be able to trick or convince them, but if you really aren't in crisis, then you can often make them understand that. Like so: "I am not suicidal. I am not thinking of hurting myself or anyone else. I can take care of my own basic needs. I am thinking clearly and I can communicate when I...

Yeah, I struggle a lot because some docs say I am aspie and some don't. I have mixed traits, I have strong special interests and I used to have bad social skills but I have good non-verbal abilities and I have been called very empathetic. I have a new CBT therapist. I didn't ask specifically about ...

How do I convince the carers that I am not in an acute mental health crisis? You can't, the observation is entirely subjective on their part based and you just simply can't. If you want to be safe and you want to be stable I'd advise removing your triggers including being surrounded by closed minde...

There are not enough expletives, slurs, or brute force in this world to change his beliefs, what gives him the right to impose himself over others? The worrying thing is that I think he truly believes this. There are plenty of other people who think it too and hearing it coming from someone in the m...

They ask you a lot about when you were a kid. Often they have your parents fill out a questionnaire about how you acted when you were little. Is this a requirement? My husband's parents have been trying to undermine and play the disability system from his childhood. If they were asked questions now...

The research makes perfect sense to me You have your own agenda and the research doesn't fit it so it's no wonder you don't like it I quote: Simon Baron-Cohen interpreted the results as follows: "Girls with a higher than average number level of autistic traits tend to have male-typical interests, s...
