Do any of you have an idea what the perfect job for your traits and interests would be? What I mean is a job that won't cause anxiety or gut wrenching fear? Mine would be curating collections or doing interpretive work at an American history museum. OR maybe teaching pretty specialized upper level A... |

I pretty much feel the same. In my university classes I spend most of my time wondering how people could possibly be so ignorant and fearing the fact that many of them will in fact get degrees and go on to do important jobs in society. Some of the most ignorant I have seen are in training to be teac... |

I'm almost 31, but I am often confused for someone much younger. I'd say most people would lump me into the 18-21 category. If I were to buy cigarettes or alcohol I would very SURELY get carded. So it goes. |

This happens when I go somewhere new, because I get slightly overwhelmed by the amount of item to choose from, but also because I'm afraid I won't like an item and I'll have a bad experience because of that. At the places I know and eat often, I typically get the same three items over and over again... |

I've always had trouble with video games. I occasionally like to play them, though I admittedly don't own a system of any kind on which to play them. I guess I enjoy them more by myself, not being obliterated by an opponent. I also don't have the attention span for any of the RPG type games and I ne... |

I don't schedule my days because if something happens and the schedule gets broken... my day will be screwed up. BUT, since I don't schedule I often hurt myself by not getting things I need to do done. It's a double edged sword... apparently. |

Parents of children tend to look down on people who enjoy making their children cry. I know that I would be furious if someone attempted to make my son cry for some sick sense of pleasure.
That's a behavior you should really seek some help for... it's definitely not going to get you anywhere. |

I like making up license plate acronyms while driving... I also do this. It is actually one of my favorite things to do. They always turn out weird -- your example for RNC came out as Raunchy Ninja Cows for me. I also tend to drum a lot. A LOT. On tables, on the steering wheel, etc. If I don't have... |

^ I have witnessed the "I'm introverted and shy, I must be AS!" phenomenon myself. I've also seen the superiority complex (as well as NT-bashing) a lot around WP. It's pretty discouraging. I mean, I've been diagnosed and even I'm skeptical that I have it. Being autistic is not a blessing (though it... |

I think its more the other way around from what B9 is saying: folks who really have AS or autism wanting to believe that what they have is cool- not NT's "thinking that its cool" to be on the spectrum and then diagnosing themselves to 'join the club'. Very few nt's even know about aspergers. Most d... |

Hmm. Not going to take that personally because I am not a teenager, I am not self diagnosed, and I do not think I am superior. I just felt like having a discussion about evolution with no motive. Just good chat with people that may be like me. 'Tis all, Sack. I am not aware of the fad because I've ... |

food that is indigestible to me. there is some sort of mystique about AS that has evolved. and as a result there is a migration of pimply faced youths who declare that they have AS as a kind of membership to a club that they consider to be more evolved than average people. i am sick of this site be... |

I attempt to avoid doing things I have planned and actually want to do because my anxiety kicks up. It usually starts immediately after I agree to do something. I will immediately start thinking of reasons why I can't do something or go somewhere. Sometimes I just do it -- and most often than not it... |

I have no problem with comedy or sarcasm... everything else causes me some difficulty. I typically just assume someone is joking if it seems questionable, but there are, of course, issues with that method too. |

I often have very detailed hypothetical conversations in my mind and I also recall large pieces of music down to the last note on occasion. I never really thought about it until you mentione... |
