I've had numerous interviews that lasted 5 minutes or even less. One interview lasted only one minute. The reason for this is that I was told that people write the ads for a job describing their ideal candidate, not necessarily who they will hire, and that they expect people will apply even if they ...

I disclose that I am autistic in the cover letter of every job that I apply for. The reason I do this is so that they know why I do not converse well during an interview. I realize that this can discourage people from hiring me, but I feel that it is the only way to let people know that my poor conv...

I think with the economy in bad shape and a lot of experienced people out of work, employers are simply not hiring entry level employees right now.

My point precisely, doodledoo. Be positive, not negative, and in fhat way, be honest as you can be in a positive manner. No negativities. No poor conversational skills, just great concentration and focus on the work at hand. The problem for me is that my poor conversational skills can become clear ...

While it is true many of us have had more than our share of mistreatment is that an excuse to pay a victim card? The reason I disclose my autism when I apply for a job is not to "play the victim card". It is to explain why I cannot effectively sell myself during an interview and to explain why my p...

I explain that I am autistic in the cover letter of every job that I apply for. I started doing this after I received some criticism of my ability to sell myself during a phone call about a job. I had one small job since I started explaining that I am autistic but I don't know if people remember it ...

I explain that I am autistic in the cover letter of all my job applications so that they know why I do not converse well during an interview. However, I don't know if this is helpful by letting them know why I have trouble with the interview, or harmful by making them think I have an undesirable tra...

ASPIE FRIENDLY: TEACHER: I believe most aspies should become teacher barring those who are average I.Q. because while NTs with average I.Q. can and do become teachers and even become "researchers" because of their faking ability, we aspies have to be of at least slightly above intelligence to have ...

I am 30 years old an autistic and I still live with my parents. The reason I still live with them is that I cannot find a job so I cannot afford my own place to live. I've been having a lot of trouble finding a job so I don't expect my situation to change anytime soon.

Every time the phone rings I feel anxious because I worry that it is going to be for me about a job, even though the phone rings a lot and it is rarely for me.
