This is very worrying and a complaint to the mental health service would seem in order. I was seeing a counsellor who seemed to think I had a personality disorder, which I only found out after I had identified that I may have Asperger's. I was horrified but at least I wasn't offered medication. I ha...

I saw a list that was similar to this which is when I realised I had AS.

I didn't have any trouble learning to write but my handwriting was always untidy. Over the years it has deteriorated to the point of being appalling.

This happens to me all the time. I have been - I can't find the words to express how I have felt at times - so bad yet I have been told I am not talking about how I feel so there is no point talking. This was before being diagnosed so at least now I can understand why this happens.

Yes, I definately relate to this and the more I discover about AS and about myself the more I realise how many people I have known with undiagnosed and now diagnosed AS. I get on with these people really well but being an aspie, don't sustain the friendships.

When getting the bus, I always try to remember who is at the stop so that I do not jump the queue by mistake. It is a huge mistake if you do this. In the middle of the day there are usually one or two older people who know each other and chat while ignoring me which makes me feel really horrible. Th...

Callista is correct, this does happen a lot. If you are in England ask for a personal budget or direct payment. You then employ your own support workers and you can get rid of them if they do not provide the service you agreed. Or you can arrange the service direct from the agency with a direct paym...

Makes total sense to me. It is many years since I was a child but I do remember that the thing I needed most was information so I knew what to expect in any situation. Every one of us is different and has different needs, whether on the spectrum or not. If society learned to accept and accommodate d...

Although I am not a Christian, the aspect of Christmas I hate most is the obscene commercialism. Shops are already stocking up on Christmas 'offers' and decorated trees are appearing in businesses. Christmas should be to celebrate the birth of Christ, not a free for all spending fest getting already...

Loud noises such as balloons popping, fireworks and car exhausts backfiring terrify me whether expected or not. I have never grown out of this!

I think I am not too negatively affected by AS and then read a post like this and realise how incredibly naive I am. I have read so much good sense and sound advice from names (no longer people to me) I have come to know and thought I trusted. I am too nervous to start a thread but now I will be war...

Hi, I never imagined I could have AS until I looked at the women's traits researching to try to understand someone I was working with. I had a real eureka moment and pursued a diagnosis from this. I can do lots of the things we are not supposed to do such as read expressions or hold down a job. You ...
