Just wondering if any of the parents on WP has done a genetic test of their children and if so what the results were. My son's results came in with a deletion on 22q.11.21 chromosome which I believe somehow is linked to his autism. |

The results of my son's genetic test came saying that he's got deletions on chromosome 21.11.21 in particular the gene PRoDh is missing. So does this mean that in addition to autism, (he was diagnosed with a mild form) he will also have schizophrenia or other mental disorder? Can it be even worse th... |

I am NT trying to understand AS. I've come across this phrase thousands of times but it's still too vague. Can you explain it to me please, maybe with examples. Thank you. |

But can the people who posted their answers here say that their life is a happy one despite/thanks to AS? |

What is helping me is hearing life stories of different people with AS. Especially happy ones. Because they are real. |

My son is very sociable and affectionate, and he doesn't look autistic at all. His behaviour is also "normal". No major tantrums or meltdowns, he likes to spend time outdoors, bushwalking or going to the swimming pool... The only give-away is his fixation on ceiling fans and doors. And, he is very c... |

I am not going to hurt him. I just don't want him to suffer to the extent that he will think his life is a failure due to AS. |

yes, I am saying this to the whole community. and i am sorry. I have been trying to cast this thought away, to distract myself from it.. but I just don't see the point...and probably today I am having a breakdown. because I read something on this board and I felt the pain of this person so deeply. Hi! I am a mom of a beautiful 3-old boy dx'ed with mild autism/aspergers. We live in Sydney and I've been thinking of meeting someone on the spectrum just to talk about life and things that might await me/my son in the future. Would anyone fancy this idea ? |

I've been reading the forums on WP, and what people say about their adult lives renders me depressed and so uncertain about my 3 old son's future. I mean we as parents need to support our children no matter what, but with AS things are different and difficult, and some things cannot be changed no ma... |

Hi,
I am a mother of a 3 year old boy dx with mild autism. We started early intervention (mainly it's occupational therapy). Did you see any benefits or progress in your children who had early intervention? How long did it take to see the improvements?
Thanks. |

My son has been recently diagnosed with mild autism/ aspergers. I have done lots of research and reading on this subject (including this forum) that I am feeling simply hopeless and scared of raising him or what the future holds for him. From what I have read, people with AS seem to be the most unha... |
