Thank you all for your responses. It would appear that the majority, if not all of you think I am the wrong here so I can't really argue with that. I wanted to put the question out there because I've saw alot of docs in the past while and I think they tend to just agree with what you say just to try...

Firsly thank you again for such a detailed reply. Again I really appreciate your views. I just want to clarify though that the reason I have fallen out with my parents and friend is not over the same person but over similar circumstances with different people. I think you have summed up really well ...

Thank you for your opinions. I appreciate your input and it is nice to get an unbiased opinion. I'll just give you some more of the facts about why I have had problems with my parents and friends to see can anyone see it from point of view. (Again, perhaps you will not change your mind and if your o...

So far no treatment or medication has helped in any small way. My main difficulties are social anxiety and actual avoidance of individuals follo...

Sorry about the double post. I didnt mean to post it in Random Discussion. Is it possible to delete a post? I couldnt see how to. Problems dwelling on negative experiences sounds exactly like my main problem. I also have terrible problems getting over issues where I get no closure. I just can't move...

I have been seeing a psychologist lately who has recommended I try out meditation & mindfulness. He does not have any specialist training or experience working with people on the spectrum so he says he cant guarantee it will help me but he thinks it could be worth a shot. Im just wondering does ...

Anybody else suffer with this problem? Its not something i've come across alot. As well as my general social anxiety, rejection affects me terribly. In the last 10 years i've had two mini relationships with 2 girls (more a few dates than actual relationships). Both seemed to be going well, then out ...

Hi. Our experiences both seem very alike. I dont fit in well in society but can make it look like I fit perfectly. I have serious anxiety and social issues and I went to all sorts of counselling, doctors, etc for years, without anyone knowing or realising anything was different about me. All the med...

Im 6ft 1 and weight 11stone (154 lbs). I played sports all throughout my life and could never gain weight or build muscle no matter how hard I tried. I was always known as the skinny or scrawy one, both of which are descriptions I really hate. Despite my low weight/muscle, I was always able to compe...

Yes there some positives coming up here about therapy and it has encouraged me to stick at it for another few sessions at least and see from there. I suppose nearly all my therapy was conducted before I was diagnosed so it was probably a waste of time. The Doctor who diagnosed me is now my therapist...

Thanks so much to everyone for their answers so far. It is so hopeful to hear everyones' opinions. In my opinion, I believe there are two oppossing views here about the types of therapy available. 1) People with AS go to therapy to try to learn and understand how NTs live and to try to blend in with...

Dont want to hijack Bumbles tread "Why therapy won't work" so I just wanted to ask has anybody had any positive results from therapy and if so was it specially designed around AS or was it just conventional? Also how did it help and how long did it take for you to feel you were making progress? I ve...
