My husband officially got his paperwork confirming an ASD diagnosis today. He's upset. He thought he could fool the doctor- for some reason he desperately did not to be diagnosed with ASD. I think mostly because he thinks people will ditch him because of it. He phoned his mother and she yelled at h... |

It's been about six months since I've posted on this forum, and I've come back to let you know that I'm not dead. I also have some updates. 1) My grandpa FINALLY admits to the family he has an AS diagnosis. A grand total of no one is surprised. I also find out my hubby was diagnosed with ADHD as a k... |

I can't stand soda, at any degree of carbonation. It's a sensory nightmare for me. |

Can't be bothered lying, so I'm gonna admit I'm 39 and have never been in a romantic or sexual relationship. I'm also female, but I don't think I've seen a single female on this site who doesn't have a boyfriend or husband. (Apologies if there are a few and I've missed you.) How do you have the soc... |

ASD correlates with affluism. Not because of over diagnosis in that sector that can afford to diagnose their kids, but when they randomly gave kids diagnostic tests the rich kids had more autism. Interesting clue into the selective advantage autism may provide to heterozygotes or those with mild tra... |

It's really interesting that a country whereby the majority of people think homosexuality is a mental illness and a culture that stigmatizes mental illness (in general, it's getting loads better), there is this kind of organization. As opposed to in America where everyone wants to find a cure. But s... |

Not sure why spend time having an Aspie line things up, we can do that without anybody around. She needs to be talking with somebody, unless that is part of the process of diagnosing.
Probably fine motor stuff. |

I don't feel like I am much a part of my family. Though, to be honest, I don't feel a part of much of any group. I can be there with a group, but I just don't feel like one of them. No matter where I am, I never feel like I truly belong. And, as far as family goes, it is very hard for me to connect... |

Earplugs are beautiful and amazing and wonderful. That, and try to get a quiet study room or carrel at the library - I find college libraries quieter than at home!
Best of luck, you've made it this far, you can do it!!' |

It's funny you ask this because I am the only ASD of all my siblings who are all cool as cucumber neurotypicals yet the only one who didn't wet the bed EVER. My sister wet until she was 7-8 and my brother was around 12 when he stopped. |

I can't take the pill - it effects my mood too much. The IUD lasts for five years, so that's good. Same here, which is why I also got an IUD. My husband and I have decided against reproducing, since we're both aspie and wouldn't want to put an innocent child through that kind of ordeal we went thro... |

Fake it till you make it. Sounds cliche, but it works. I'm definitely on the spectrum and annoy people from time to time, am logical, blunt, and not spontaneous, but I have developed a lot of coping mechanisms that allow me to have a reasonably normal social life. Most people don't want to be my fri... |

It means going along with a conversation even if they other person is talking crap in your view, without arguing with them. e.g. A friend might say they're convinced a place is haunted. If you know they're quite "spiritual", and you don't want to upset them or get into an argument, then rather than... |
