Forum: Love and Dating   Topic: How to get over someone and remain friends?

I can relate as I have a few times developed intense feelings that were not always requited or if they potentially were, the timing was off or the person was involved with someone else and so nothing but friendship could ever be possible. But because of my AS or AS traits if you prefer since I am se...

I hate most ads too but I do like smart tv. We have a DVR so any show with ads I never watch in real time. That way I can fast forward through the ads. If a DVR isn't an option, watching on the Internet either by waiting/watching only shows through Hulu or Netflix without ads or just watch on the ne...

I can't remember all the numbers but I've had 2 text break ups and one of those was on Valentine's Day! I had a close friend end a friendship with me on my birthday by a pm on Facebook which hurt more than most break ups I've ever had but I also was in love with him (we were just friends though). Th...

Yeah that is hurtful. I am a female with possible Aspergers (no official Dx yet but hinted at by a doctoral level psychologist who was supervising me on a case. I work as a 1:1 to kids on the autism spectrum). I too have learned to suppress some of my traits. I date and I was married for 4 years but...

I don't do it too much in person. I used to a bit if somebody had said a wrong fact and I knew the correct answer. That still bothers me a lot but I have learned to hold it in. However I am terrible on Facebook with posting a status update if I'm in meltdown mode or emotionally on edge and also via ...

I think in a person's 20's and for some even into the early 30's it's pretty normal not to be fully connected to one's own mortality. Cherish that feeling of just connecting to life. Now that I'm 45 I'm too conscious of my mortality and wish I still felt that strong connection to a feeling of having...

I like the artistic side of fashion and the idea of personal style but I'm not into the superficial side of it or labels. I love finding a knock off of something designer for really cheap at Ross or something. I also love thrift shops etc. I have a lot of admiration for artists who have a strong per...

At the last autism conference I went to, it was explained by Dr Tarbox that ToM is actually a set of skills so in a way it's a confusing title because it doesn't describe one skill/trait. I think that could explain why we all have varying levels of ToM skills. Some of us especially as kids might hav...

What you just described sounds like a really positive experience and nothing to be worried about. When I was growing up and kids still roamed free in our neighborhoods, multi age groups of kids were not uncommon at all. But some schools even now have multi grade classrooms such as the Montessori mod...

It sounds more like an executive functioning issue than an empathy issue. I agree try the list option and see if you can handle it then if you can't find a new home for your bunny.

Great idea! I would add these:

Not all Aspies don't like to be touched ever
Not all Aspies are single
Not all Aspies have zero friends
Not all Aspies aren't parents

Go to your dr! Messing around on your own with meds can get you killed! It's really dangerous. Don't make the Heath Ledger mistake.

I got a head start with computers and a precursor to the Internet when I was 10 back in 1978 or 1979 because my mom's 2nd husband is a nuclear physicist so we had a computer at home and one of those cradle modems so he could get on the lab where he worked network. They had one text based D&D typ...
