The house I live in has West-facing windows in the living room/dining room area which means I feel miserable and headachey in the late afternoon, and light fixtures that make me feel miserable and headachey in the evening. I have kids to take care of and I need to be in those places with adequate li... |

Just read the first post on this page .... Some of that is being 4. My NT daughter was the WORST for saying she wanted something then wanting something else and so forth. Lots of theories for why (I think they are first coming to understand the concept of choice), but mostly I think you set things ... |

I was listening to this fascinating podcast, How 'Flow' Unlocks the Heights of Human Performance: https://soundcloud.com/kqedforum/how-flow-unlocks-heights-of Here's the description: "Flow" refers to a state of complete focus, peace of mind and instinctive action. This elusive state of mind is the s... |

We went through a period where my 4 year old daughter was quizzing everyone about names, numbers, colors, and fuel sources of Thomas the Tank Engine characters constantly, so I can relate! One of many reasons we suspect she might be on the spectrum but haven't pushed for a diagnosis at this point. S... |

Why is it again that autistic people are the ones who supposedly lack empathy? |

I'm good at drawing, but I can never get a line right the first time I draw it. I also have problems with drawing small details (how did I not connect this with not having good fine motor skills?). This means I take longer to draw than most people, but I can do it. Same here. I never thought about ... |

This of those odd examples of ASD contradicting itself, I have Aspergers, ADHD and Dyspraxia. Dyspraxia especially is about poor fine motor control. And yet I'm a good draughtsman, my drawing work is often very detailed and precise, even though my handwriting is atrocious. I've linked to my website... |

I was just thinking today how much I hate improvisational saxophones. I can't stand all that squealing. Glad I'm not the only one! Also that irritating music performed on various kazoos and horns during the Elmo segments on Sesame street gives me an instant headache. In general, I'm always asking my... |

While I was growing up: "Stop walking on your toes all the time!" -Mom "You're weird." -best friend "You're shy? Oh, I thought you were just stuck up." -classmate "Why do you always just say 'fine' when I ask how you are?" -friend of family "brillo-head" -friend's older brother's nickname for me (he... |

Yes! When I was a kid I used to keep lists in a notebook about cartoons. I'd list every single cartoon character in existence that was a cat, or list all the cartoon voice actors I liked and then list every single cartoon character they voiced. I also made diagrams of how to draw teenage mutant ninj... |

Hi everyone, I'm a graphic designer/artist, but really I'm a stay-at-home mom with 2 precocious little kids. I'm about 99% percent sure I must have Asperger's, but I've only recently been able to figure it out. I seem to have a fairly high level of social skills, some natural, a lot self-taught over... |
