If she isn't hearing well, she may respond more if you place yourself in front of her so she is looking at you before you speak to her. Be careful to have fun. If she senses your worry, she may show little response to what she thinks worries you, in this case, her name. Does she have favorite songs?... |

Concerned Dad, as a parent I think the red flags to look for are not responding, not pointing, etc. and unusual rigidity. Many people use the child's name so much that we might shorten the concern to being about a child not responding to his or her name, but it's the responding that a one year old s... |

Dear Aspie Members Please give details on how an NT partner can approach an aspie to speak with them about emotions and emotional needs without overwhelming the aspie partner and causing them to shutdown and or stonewalling their NT partners? You sound frustrated. I hope this works out for you. And... |

Hi there, I am not autistic but I had to intrude the discussion . Me and almost 99 percent of NT are bullied in different stages of their education. It is not related to being autistic or not . There will be always a few guys who will bully the others, those NT who will accept being bullied ,will e... |

Agree with ASDMommy. And once people are questioned very tough to get them to change their minds. No ine wants to give in, no one wants to be wrong. It would be (I think) beyond most 10 year olds at this point to successfully advocate for themselves. I get things would be better if she'd been able t... |

If the other child is very manipulative and never gets caught despite tormenting numerous children, what good would staying really do her?
What you are describing about the other child sounds scary. |

I agree with YippySkippy. It is the school's job to protect against bullying. Obviously you want your child to be able to get help herself when she needs it, but you seem to be saying that several adults who monitor the playground are saying your daughter is in the wrong. That would be really tough ... |

I just feel that in order to learn how to be assertive, one needs to see that it works. Once that happens, she'll be open to doing as you suggest. Maybe you could have her practice with you, a friend, even some dolls or stuffed animals? As this has been going on awhile, adults may seem to her to hav... |

I understand what you're saying. I just think that her staying with the teacher puts pressure on the teacher, who sounds like she's a decent sort, to try to help your daughter solve the problem right there and that works a lot better than trying to do it long-distance. My daughter has trouble standi... |

Do I understand correctly the school isn't able to control the other child's behavior, your daughter wants to stay with her teacher where she feels more secure, and they want her to stop or you to fix this? I think it's their job to make your daughter feel secure. I feel for the teacher, but maybe t... |

It seems very unlikely right now, but could easily happen and I think it would be a good idea to have a plan to avoid it unless you want to be pregnant. |

It sounds like the odds are low this minute but with what is happening, it also sounds like the odds are moderate over the next few months. |

How can stress delay my period? I heard worrying can alter my hormonal system, but I don't know if it is a myth... It isn't a myth. But it seems like you don't want to get pregnant, wouldn't you like to see a doctor about having a reliable form of birth control beyond condoms? So this doesn't happe... |

Take a test. And all tests can be wrong. But.....all this stressing could make you late, so try to relax as it seems unlikely the way you're describing things. But take a test, at home or your doctor's office. No one else need know. |
