Not drunk? http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/4661326 Not street racing? http://m.tmz.com/#Article/2014/01/31/justin-bieber-gps-drag-racing I'm not a Bieber fan; I've never heard his music but doubt very much if I would like it. However, this may be a case of overzealous cops picking on someone just bec... |

Not series, but Joyce, Woolf, and other modernist gibberish-writers. Complete garbage. The equivalent of modern "artists" who somehow get galleries to exhibit their vomit and urine. Of the series listed, LOTR is highly regarded in literary circles, although there are those who spurn any kind of genr... |

Not every discussion is a "fight." I enjoy a good discussion; if I want to talk to people who already agree with me there are forums for that. But I do lose interest when it's clear my opponent has nothing to offer but the same old fallacies. |

There's nothing ironic about it. Mencken would have hated both of today's parties with a passion.
"Under democracy one party always devotes its chief energies to trying to prove that the other party is unfit to rule - and both commonly succeed, and are right."

Since I first became eligible to vote, in the Reagan years, each President seems worse to me than the one before. At this rate, if I live long enough, I expect to be asked to choose between Hitler and Stalin. ![Sad :(](./images/smilies/icon_sad.gif) |

It probably isn't too difficult to do a better job than the French at running a country. Still, besides the positive accomplishments, there's: In order to achieve this radical transformation of society, he increasingly exerted authoritarian control over the nation, eventually banning unions and a fr... |

You need a photo ID for: Buying alcohol Buying tobacco Buying guns Driving a car People like this judge and Eric Holder need to be removed from their positions. Outside of buying a gun, none of those other things are rights - and with guns, there are concerns if the buyer is unqualified due to a cr... |

Not even Arthur C. Clarke had any idea what that mess was about.

I was on the spectrum as a child, although that was before the diagnosis existed. I remember that I usually enjoyed getting hugged by adults I liked -- if I was already stressed out, or if it was someone I didn't know or didn't like, it felt like an assault and I would go rigid or try to escape. But... |

Morality is concerned with choices. I think that good or virtuous choices are those which promote, defend, and enhance human life; bad or vicious choices are those which impede or destroy human life. No deity required. |

While anybody who has thought about such matters has a concept of what the ideal society would look like, "utopian" suggests an airy disconnect from reality; while anyone with a mind has an ideology, "ideologue" connotes blind zealotry. I'm not certain what you mean by "evangelical" but no doubt tha... |

The question is: can I make decisions for myself, as a rational adult? Or will they be made for me by a complete stranger, as if he were my parent and I were a child? Take health care. Yes, every sane adult will buy insurance for himself if he is financially able. But in a free market, I personally ... |

Instead, it turns out we have to discuss the most basic of all things, wether or not the State should grant benefits to those who are so obviously ill they cannot take care of themselves. Not even that can we agree on!! ! Damn, I hate humanity now! It's not that I want to assert my position at any ... |
