All of that stuff isn't a part of you. It's just stuff you do because you're trying to survive in a hostile environment. You are not what you say and do. As long as you tell yourself that all that is a part of you, you won't have the energy and guts to change it. You can change it - but only when y... |

i do not like hair. it is especially unsavory when i get a hair in my mouth. i think everyone hates hairs in their mouth. it is a curious situation. I used to suck my hair. what did you get out of it? if the hairs you sucked were still rooted in your head, then you could have easily removed them fr... |

Well actually it's more complicated than that. I don't hate myself. I hate the part of myself that comes out whenever I'm around other people. I hate the fact that I become a shy, anxious, semi mute idiot. I hate the way people make assumptions about me and speak for me instead of asking me. I hate ... |

I get jealous too. I know it wouldn't have made much difference though. It would have been up to my parents to get me support, put me in clubs with other AS kids etc, and I really don't think they would have bothered. |

I've finally found another hair lover! Hooray! I stare at hair all the time, but only of people I know. It's like I'm addicted to their hair and can't turn away. I love the light going through it, the colour, and the ends of their hair, or little bits that stick out of place. I tend to get an uncont... |

I think it would be a nightmare. Plus, having seen aspie "logic" in action many times, I think it would mean there'd be lots of arguments over details that don't even matter, with everyone thinking they're right, when actually they're totally missing the point because they're basing their logic on o... |

When I was a teenager I lived in my own little fantasy world 24 hrs a day. I'd try to hide it but sometimes I'd slip up and have facial expressions or actions that others would comment on. I'd talk to myself when alone. |

I apparently grind my teeth really loudly. I often wake up with jaw pain from it. I also clench my teeth throughout the day. It's a stress thing that nt people do too, but ASD people tend to have more stress. |

PE, maths, physics, geography, foreign language
Why is the stereotype that AS = great at maths, when nearly every post here lists maths as a worst subject? |

We were given guidance at work that this is purely convention and the correct response is not, "fine, and you?" or, "fine, thanks. How are you?" but simply to repeat the utterance: Person A " How are you?" Person B: "How are you?" To answer the greeting as if it were an actual question, we were tol... |

I just have an automatic response of "Im fine thank you, how are you?"
If they continue talking, then its the bit after that that I hate and am scared of, because then I'm all out of automatic responses and have no idea what I'm supposed to say. |

So is this "overdrive mode" gonna get better after the hormones subside? I know I won't ever be completely normal, but will it get better once the hormones balance out? I've heard that hormones take everything and intensifies it. It will probably get better after the hormones subside. Hormones do m... |
