I have noticed times in the past where it seems like people hold me to an impossibly high standard for social conversations, that they don't even hold other people to, as though they are trying to find an excuse to hate me, and they can't find one, so they're setting me up to fail with their expecta...

I'm 24, and have never drank alcohol before. It's a combination of spending so many years in religious groups that didn't look favorably upon alcohol, and the fact that losing control of my mind/coordination and then throwing up afterwards never a[ppealed to me, especially the throwing up. I p...

I would rather have Alex running the world than current government leaders, in or outside the US.

US. Granite City, Illinois. It's about 10 miles from St. Louis, old industrial town, a massive steel plant, a factory that makes steel parts for railroads, and warehouses.

Can you tolerate people touching you at all? Can you be touched in certain places, but not others? Does it depend on who is touching you? Is the discomfort from a physical sensation, or does it just feel threatening/suffocating? I can't tolerate anything more than a handshake from most people, the o...

What I wonder is why they often have the same picture of him at the top of the page when most of the time, the banner ad at the top is also the same picture of him? Either drop the picture at the bottom of the page, or use different pics of him at the bottom of the page, change it up a little. I und...

Aspies needs to get children so we get new Aspies in the next generation, so just get at it. And don't come with the "they will be badly treated" argument, as better treatment requires a sizable population that can argue about their human rights. Having Asperger's doesn't necessarily mean...

I decided as the lone father so far, i need to say a few things to some of the responses. yes you are rolling the genetic dice of passing on your genetic (or spouses) genetic problems. that's just not our problem, that's societies problem as a whole. I do not view this as a reason not to have kids,...

I am not too familiar with Catholicism, I came from a Protestant background, but I'm wondering if it's possible according to church rules to have his priest officiate the wedding at someplace other than the church? Then again as OliveOilMom said, I do know that Catholicism does allow for a secular/l...

It might be a little petty, but I find myself feeling a little resentful of the younger generation getting a dx. They sometimes get accommodations, and at least they know why they're different. for some reason I feel jealous. you know? I understand the feeling, I wouldn't say I'm 'jealous" of the y...

Should you give up on NT's completely? No. They can be hard to understand sometimes, especially in relationships (I'm sure they feel the same way about us), but I don't think you should give up on NT women altogether. I think you are just not finding the right type of woman for you. If you are havin...

Hey, Sharkgirl, one good thing you have working in your favor is that you live in a large city. There should be some Aspie groups in your area that meet in person, not just online, right? That would be something worth checking out, since it would probably be easier to meet and get to know a fellow A...

I was 17, she was 16, we both hadn't kissed before. We were both rather awkward about relationships (thankfully I wasn't the only one). We had discussed it before when we were out together, and one Sunday night, after a church service, (I met her at that church), we were alone in a foyer area outsid...

I've been listening to a lot of The Black Keys today, they are an incredible band. The last song was this one, it brings to mind something that happened to me a few years back, a missed opportunity to start a relationship with a friend who wanted to be my girlfriend, I still regret it, I was a cowar...

I find them rather laughable, and I wonder if the ideas that we are aliens might actually be a roundabout compliment. Are the saying we are so much more intelligent and advanced/more evolved than NT's, that the only explanation for it is that we must be aliens from a distant planet? :D
