Hi I'm a mother to an awesome boy of eight who struggles with making eye contact. It makes me sad to see how that isolates him from his peers, because they think he isn't interested in contact. I would very much like your advise as to how I can motivate him to learn how fake eye contact (and use it)...

I think often it's more important to focus on listening rather than trying to come up with something interesting to say. When you're nervous in a social setting it's quite normal for anyone to start obsessing over "I must not say the wrong thing". This will draw your attention away from the actual c...

Thank you for a good advise. A board game would actually be an excellent activity. My son is very into games. He's the only five year old I know of that plays Settlers :-) . It would hell calm him too. My son is the only one with a diagnose, but it wouldn't surprise me too much if other family membe...

Have you considered adoption of a child with a handicap? Like other people have said, since there are more willing parents than healthy young children available for adoption, any little anomaly will lead to a rejection. Fewer people are queing for children with a handicap though. Unfortunately, beca...

They're all fairly introverted except for my husbands sister, who is like the familys information hub. Without her the conversation will often b...

Before starting on an elimination diet there are lab tests you can take on blood or urine that can give you an idea if your digestive system isn't handling casein or gluten very well. We have tested our son, since there's both milk intolerance and coeliacs disease in his imediate family. What I know...

I'm so grateful for all the good advise. I have already written down a page with ideas from your input to discuss with my husband :D When I think about it in retrospect we have mainly tried the "You can do it"-cheering so far. It will be good to have some other tools at hand. Hyperlexia might very w...

Hi I wonder if anyone else is struggling with this? My 4,5 year old son is seriously perfectionist. While this also has its advantages, the problem with this is that it is difficult to incourage him to try out new things. And it is increasingly hard to get him to try again if the first attempt did n...
