It is a similar situation with those who graduated college but can't get a job. Kids were told they had to get a degree to go to college for all of their lives. What was told may be a necessary condition but it does not mean it is sufficient. Hah! Two very similar misunderstandings that people woul...

I get frustrated with myself because I've never really had the motivation to develop a full-blown fixation since I was a very young age. I've always been ahead of my peers academically, but I still make many silly errors, and I have a hard time coping with that. I know I'm not a savant, but some peo...

No one else in my family has been officially diagnosed, but they haven't been tested either. My mom shows some very strong signs of being on the spectrum; in particular, she has a large amount of difficulty describing or identifying emotions she's feeling, even when they're obvious to me (which is s...

Considering some of the other malarkey fringe theorists come up with, I wouldn't take this sort of thing seriously. There are much more harmful ideas about ASD that are actually accepted by the mainstream; by comparison, this almost comes off as satire.

I was diagnosed with Aspergers at 2 years and 3 months old, in 1995. My mom noticed some odd behaviors of mine, such as fixations on light switches and swirling water, and I wasn't acknowledging verbal cues from my parents or responding to my name. My aunt's boyfriend noticed this and told my parent...

Reasons Not to Date Me: I have a huge amount of difficulty expressing genuine affection just for the sake of it. I'm extremely indecisive and flaky. I can get very complacent and reliant on others. I often take those closest to me for granted and neglect relationships. I tend to be a sore loser. Pe...

I think the main thing to keep in mind is that it's natural for someone to feel rejected when they're told their feelings are unrequited. Just be honest, but stress how much you value his friendship. I know it's easier said than done, as I've had to turn the advances of a close friend before, once f...

All of my turn-of-the-millennium nostalgia will relate to the internet; mainly, how I had to walk uphill in five feet of snow both ways to turn on my modem so I could use Netscape.

chronologicque.tumblr.com - I just reblog things I like. There's no real rhyme or reason to it (although there's a fair deal of fine art and music). The theme of my blog is Stuff.

I got along very well with the majority of my teachers in school. They all seemed to appreciate my talent and intelligence. I actually dated my high school principal's daughter for a while, and he always treated me well. The one time I got into a fight in high school, he made a point to simply laugh...

I've gotten several comments on my speed over the years from classmates, professors, or people in coffee shops. If only I'd spent as much time on my handwriting... Now there's a funny thing. I've never been able to type as effectively as I could, but I get a lot of compliments on my penmanship. One...

I've never been able to type with all ten fingers, although I've made do with what I can. I'm not a slow typist by any means.

I went shopping in Target today and saw a copy of the new SimCity game. It's about designing your own city. I liked the older one, so despite negative reviews I went home to actually order my copy online. I haven't played the game myself, but I've read that much of the poor reception has to do with...
