I really don't understand why rationally self-interested businesses put any stock in the opinions of a person's friends it's not like they're objective at all. Actually, it is because of that rational self-interest that many business people fall into that trap. There are many factors that come into... |

I didn't slam them, I said they were wrong and the statements are untrue. I am not open to imaginary ideas about what the world is like, so I am not open to opinions that these disparities do not exist. If you cannot recognize the hypocrisy in your statements then you are wasting your time trying t... |

Simply by asking this question you have proven that you are not faking it with regards to your wife and your concern about your relationship with her. You clearly do want to "be there" for her. The real question is how do you do so and still get your needs met. I am no poster-child for successful re... |

Anyway, I am open to differing opinions, although I am not open to differing facts. Denying that the disparities exist is essentially a lie (unintentionally or not) and I have no interest in participating in promoting such a lie. If people want to believe they don't exist, that's fine, but while th... |

Is it an aspie thing, you think, to always sound sure of yourself/direct, outside of professional situations? I know I used to come across as being blunt, so I forced myself to say um. Yeah, I'd say so. We're all so stuck in our heads, it's hard sometimes to realize that other people don't see we'r... |

Now I admit that there have been a couple of places where I've been treated differently because of my Autism and I didn't have the right to say what I needed. People told me what I needed and forced it on me. It happened in day treatment. The psychiatrist wouldn't give me a say in my own treatment ... |

Wow, there are so many things I want to say it is hard to know where to start. I guess I'll start here and see what comes of it. I do not think that anyone would argue against the idea that there is a point in which society should be held responsible for accommodating the individual but I also think... |

My lawyer charged nothing until I was awarded benefits. If he does not win there is no charge. But he won't take the case unless he is sure he can win it. Shoot my first reply got eaten by the ether in mid-sentence. Let's try this again. What your lawyer did is exactly what they are required to do by... |

If I may interject. I am not a writer of anything even resembling Jane's caliber but I am a writer and one of my degrees is in history. Please be very suspicious of any modern adornments that people place on historical figures. There is a lot of displacement and personalization that goes on and even... |

Here are some things to keep in mind when you are applying for disability with Social Security. 1) The definition of disability for Social Security purposes is an impairment or combination of impairments (does not matter if it physical, mental, or both) that prevents you from working and performing ... |

I believe that NTs do this in a more general and less specific context. For example, when I am surrounded by a particular accent I will begin speaking in that accent subconciously. When I am removed from the accent (such as leaving that country) my accent gradually returns to my normal baseline. If ... |

This is really a very helpful discussion for me. Thank you all for commenting. A number of comments have led me to believe that when you focus your attention on a given physical task set (such as soccer or ballroom dancing) the skill and grace you develop is laregly limited to that skill set and doe... |

I'm not sure if this will help you in any way, but I used to train powerlifting, nothing organized though, just something for me. I used to train around 5 times a week. However, due to my obsessive nature im injured at the moment. I still exercise, but only to fix my shoulder.. This is useful too. ... |

Does it count that I played soccer from 5 years old to 21 years old? I am clumsy with everyday life though (tripping going up & down stairs, stubbing foot in the ground when walking, running into stuff), but with soccer I wasn't clumsy. Soccer was my special interest early on. I trained all day... |

I empathize. I had a patch where I was jobless for about 18 months. You have things a lot harder than I did having been out of work for twice as long and in a much worse economy. I don't know if it will help you but it helped me. I started volunteering. I figured I wasn't doing anything other than s... |

Well, it has been my experience that the times in my life when I was most prone to jealousy were the times that I was feeling most insecure about whatever the subject of my jealousy was. For example, in the first 7 years of my 10 year marriage I felt no jealousy at all. My wife could go out with her... |
