I never realized this but someone pointed out that I speak very softly and quietly. My mom states when I answer questions I do it in a belligerent manner. Some kids at school said I was mean because of the way I answered questions. At my Autism group their is one girl who is very loud but isn't awa... |

hi, just doing a serve here, are you more obsessed with your special interest when stressed or depressed? My special interests are reading and sci-fi (mostly Star Trek). When I am stressed out, I tend to want to go hide (in the closet if I'm really stressed out/overstimulated) and read snuggled up ... |

The 30miles the wrong way wouldn't really be funny as its added an extra hour to the trip and cost the driver an hours worth of petrol. They were probably thinking of the wasted time and cost and wouldn't appreciate word play at that time. Also sending someone to coventry is when you isolate or exc... |

...One day a man said "good morning" to me and I didn't respond. I probably would have, but it caught me off guard... Before I got out of earshot I heard him say, "WELL GOOD MORNING TO YOU TOO" in a disgusted tone of voice. People like that really scare me because they get offended at the slightest... |

I got 70% on that test. Is that good, bad, or mediocre? |

I don't understand how some of you ladies have no social life, and still manage to find a husband. were you social before you meet your husband. I met my husband in Sunday School (young single adult class, 18-35yo). He spoke little to no English at the time, but the Spanish language church he attend... |

I'm not diagnosed, but probably Aspergers/ASD (all my relatives think so). I haven't had any friends since college, so no one else knows me well enough to comment or really talk to me beyond the "Hello. How are you?" routine. My daughter and husband say I come off strange to those passing acquaintan... |

5. "Usually, I do not care very much about my integrity/being independent of others." When you have answered with 5 numbers you add them together. The result of the addition is your score. My prophecy is that these statements hit spot on enough for you to disagree quite strongly with them! Let the ... |

Thanks for the responses. I will be thinking about all of this as we explore options. Does anyone know of any internet groups or forums for parents that are homeschooling their ASD kids? Any other helpful resources? Several of the parents on The Homeschool Library forum have ASD children. The Homes... |

I learned social skills mostly from my parents, though now I learn a lot more from books and TV, since I have started to look for what other people do. Some of the instruction from my parents was confusing, though, like "Don't talk back." I was over 30 before I figured out what on earth "talking bac... |

I don't find Seinfeld nor nearly any other sitcom funny. I mean I actually find them completely, 100% devoid of humour. The one that puzzles me the most is Friends. How on earth is that one of the most successful sitcoms of all time? How on earth did the stars of that show manage to launch successf... |

There was one black Aspie at an Aspie party I went to once where there were about 30 Aspies. Most Asian men do seem Aspie. Indian men and Japanese men, even Chinese men, and Korean men a lot. Then the Hispanics-- I haven't seen or heard of one Hispanic Aspie. My son is 1/2 Hispanic. (My husband is ... |

Access to more appropriate health care and access to disability-related benefits are the two most obvious ones I can think of. Those should be enough. After all, what has an AS-suspected person got to lose by seeking formal diagnosis? Thousands of dollars we don't have. Not all of us have any form ... |

In this particular case, the best answer to "Are you ret*d?" Would be "How is that relevant to this issue?" (or, if that is not how you talk, "What does that have to do with whether or not my dog attacked someone?") |
