I have the same problem. I'll answer the question posed to me, but never reciprocate. I also never initiate 'small-talk'.

I can take part in technical discussions but I find that conversations that seem to have no function are really difficult.

I was afraid of both heights and depths, cats, anything that flaps it's wings, lifts (elevators), crowds, talking to anyone I don't know well(still have that one), embarrassment (both mine and others), and so on. I have managed to bring most of these under control now, but some still make me uneasy.

Now a large portion of the evaluation is given over to demonstrating 'behaviours' that the company deems to be positive...

Hello. I have been reading the forums for a little while, but until this morning hadn't posted. I am currently going through the diagnostic process, or at least trying to. My problem is that many people, including my wife, a Doctor, and a psychiatrist have told me that in their opinion I have a mild...

Hi James. I am from Solihull, so not too far away. Although, as a previous poster notes, a diagnosis can have negatives, do bear in mind that you do not have to disclose your condition to people if you do not wish to. The process is to speak to your GP initially. Some GPs know little of autistic spe...
