I think someone suffering from AS is somewhat comparable to someone suffering from dyslexia, in the sense that it is often harder for us to infer things and process the information around us as well as others. I know that even now days I still have a hard time with body language and empathy. Being a...

Heh. Empathy has never been one of my strong points. And that was always something I was worried about when I worked in the call-centre industry: displaying empathy to a customer (when appropriate) was regarded by the people higher up as An Important Thing. But over time I learned to recognize when...

I know that a lot of peopel with AS are said to be hypersensitive, but what about sensory deficiencies? I've noticed that I have hearing loss, vision problems, not very sharp smell or taste, and my sense of touch is pretty jaded.

One thing about pot that's weird, is that the first few times you smoke it, it doesn't have much of an effect. My friend wanted me to try it, and I had already been reading about it out of pure curiosity. It gave me a somewhat surreal feeling, but overall it was pretty lack-lustre, and I asked him w...

I don't mead to tread-jack, but what would you recommend for building GUI based applications? I got into C a little bit some time ago, but never really ascertained how to build GUI applications, and just lost interest. Someone mentioned Visual C++ and Visual Basic, but I'm not quite sure that I want...

I haven't found anything I really like from them except "OK Computer". That album is just pure greatness, and it definitely goes down in my book as one of my favorite albums I've ever listened to. Oh, and... If any of you want a really surreal experience, you should put on some Winamp visualizations...

"I am not going to convince anybody to stop, because as a recovered addict, I know that the s**t f***ing infests your brain like a demon and blinds you to the consequences it causes. I didn't realize my self-destructive practise until it was too late and I hade melted my brain. So if you pot smokers...

I love cutting things. I'm making A Beautiful Mind collage right now... :D It's relaxing for some reason. I also order paper doll books that are old clothes from the 20's and 40's or the Civil War, and I cut the intricate clothes out for hours upon end. I don't play with the dolls. I do it solely t...

Anyone else use their teeth (the really sharpies) to tear small (really) from the insides of their mouths to to feel the slightly adhesive quality of thesse between their teeth? I do that ALL the time, in fact I was doing it while reading your post. I wonder how many of these are even AS related, a...

I've actually found it quite difficult to use my peripheral vision, but that's because at a certain age I started making it a habit to look at every thing in a room individually, mapping out the items and locations mentally. Since then I've just sort of done it sub-consciously... I can't tell you ho...

So, I've just recently discovered this Asperger's syndrome. Since researching it, talking to some aspies, I've just noticed so many similarities between aspies. So, I wanted to take a few stabs in the dark to see if any of you do some things that I do Press the numbers on a telephone or remote contr...

You know, over the past 18 years, I've known I was different. I've had my doubts from time to time, assuming that I was just maybe egotistic, feeling the need to be different; to finally accepting it, but just saying that I'm just slightly eccentric; and then completely puzzled as to how I'm differe...
