This might involve going way out of your comfort zone. My suggestion is, get a work-permit for some country somewhere (doesn't matter where) and go work somewhere like a Youth Hostel (any one of the hostels at europesfamoushostels.com will guarantee you a busy Summer). Can't get to Europe? Perhaps ...

Pubs/Bars/Clubs all suck. There are so many rules of engagement to follow, it's ridiculous. Say one wrong thing and you're done. It's mostly because women put up this wall that's almost uncrackable.
