I lied in my defense to the post by naturalplastic, whose apology I utterly accept. I have more to say, and might debate aspies on juries. I like how naturalplastic called the empanelment process alchemy, because that's what it is. When going to court, it helps to have an open mind and a sense of aw...

Such as making jury service voluntary. We have people giving blood voluntarily, we have people helping sick folks voluntarily, why not have voluntary jurors as long as they are legally qualified to hear a case. ruveyn I think it would be interesting if the courts started taking volunteer juries in ...

Scam? I wasn't involved in any scam. I did not exploit "the public's" ignorance of AS to avoid jury service. I talked to a judge during a sidebar with lawyers present. It was not a great big public announcement. Neither naturalplastic nor anyone else should presume that those people were all ignoran...

I went to the courthouse at my scheduled time and reported to the "jury pool" room, where jurors were welcomed and indoctrinated about jury service. America has a "sacred tradition" of jurors, whose service protects and ensures democracy. Serving on a jury is mandatory if you are called and eligible...

I was assigned to my community's jury pool yesterday. This experience of mine was disturbing. I intended to disclose my Asperger's Syndrome to the judge and lawyers, and succinctly tell them what risk this could bring to the court. Specifically, the risk is that I could make an error in judgement on...

YES NO Yes, I tried to use Vocational Rehabilitation. THEY used ME, so I have to say that it was not helpful. The state put me in a "sheltered workshop" where the staff examined me and wrote a report on my interactions and the quality of my work at menial tasks. I did fine. But the state did not fin...

Given the market conditions, I think that engineering is not a good college major for Aspies. Take it from an Aspie with an electrical engineering degree. BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD! The college curriculum does not emphasize social and persuasive skills. While this may make it attractive to study, ...

Hello cheesecheese. I am a man with Asperger's syndrome in the U.S.A., who achieved an Electrical Engineering degree in 2002. I admire your courage to study engineering, and I approve of your forethought to find a line of work that is a "good fit" for a person with Asperger's syndrome. However, I ha...
