Not sure if self-dx'ed counts, but I did score "very likely an aspie" on the RDOS quiz. Before that, it was a family friend who initially suggested I might have AS. I was a weird kid for most of my childhood and adolescence. (I'm 36 now.) "Post-undergrad" was mentioned. I have a master's degree, so ...

I remember taking part in a similar discussion on AFF on whether to use rainbows or not. Everyone there liked the infinity sign. (I even use a variation of it on my avatar.) Is the infinity sign regarded as a mainly AFF symbol or is it more universal? Whatever you do, please don't use the jigsaw puz...

I went to FSU a long time ago. Lake Bradford road looked rather run-down and I'd encounter some creepy-looking people at places alongside it. Also, it's nowhere near the main library. Whoever wrote that obviously had a problem with college students that he should see a psychiatrist about. Also a cow...

This comes as no surprise to me. I've always found the music and lyrics of the Talking Heads very intriguing. If I had to pick just one song as my all-time favorite among the thousands of songs and hundreds of bands I've heard, it would be "Once In a Lifetime". That song's music evokes some nice men...

...The chapter did also go onto say say some other interesting things, explaining how aspies tend to be naive and can get mixed up with the wrong people (people trying to take advantage of them) but I suppose that's getting a little off-topic... Even if it's off-topic, it's certainly nothing to ign...

I use an Insignia Kix 1 GB. It was about $40 at Best Buy last spring. IMO, a very no-nonsense gadget that can be figured out in an evening or two. Pocket sized, with the form factor of a thumb drive. Recharges its battery any time it's plugged into a USB port. I can click-and-drag items from iTunes ...

I think so, and I think it's very much a good thing. girlfriend - also a self-dx'ed aspie friend who comes over to watch movies once a week and calls about twice a day - ADHD engineer at work I often have lunch with - special interests, some in common. Sometimes our conversations are repeats of conv...

I'd say stay the #$&* away from Scientology. I have also heard of Hubbard bragging about starting a religion for money, shortly before doing it. He gave science fiction writers a bad name. Fortunately, there are many more who aren't like that. I read alot of science fiction, go to conventions, a...

What about the reverse of the idea? That is, promote the idea of hiring autistic spectrum people, emphasizing the positive traits, and then let them come looking for you. I'm actually a team-lead in an operation that I think might be better run by Aspies. (Sorry, we're not hiring right now. You prob...

...The insomnia may make a more compelling defense for temporary insanity than the aspie diagnosis given that insomniacs tend to hallucinate and become mentally unstable through lack of sleep. I can testify to the effects of sleep deprivation (which insomnia by definition results in). After I gradu...

I agree with everyone's advice, except about reporting her, but that's just because I'm a firm believer in the "no snitching" way of life.... I disagree with the "no snitch" policy. I never snitched in high school, but looking back I wish I had snitched in a few situations. One of those situations ...

I have to side with those against the jammers, because as satisfying as it might be to disrupt some twit's half-conversation, there's still the inevitable criminal who would jam to stop a 911 call from going out. I think there need to be fines for people who yap on cellphones in areas where it's not...
