I suck at group work. I like doing my own thing and getting it done as soon as the assignment has been set so i can get the lecturer to proof read and make suggestions. I hate leaving things to the last minute. I am doing a subject that is 100 percent group work based. It is an online subject and s...

I agree with Chronos that one should try all means possible but if you can't resolve it to speak to the instructor. Maybe he will work out a way you can hand your stuff in separately to those who aren't participating....

Sorry I'm quite late to reply. Since I decided not to increase the meds and the ASD team will see him towards the end of the month and I've been dealing with things for a little (issues with my daughter's teacher now). The doctor "says" because he has Asperger as well as ADHD, these children tend to...

My son is in late immersion and he is doing really well but he goes through periods of alot of french where the rule is only French speaking, little English. Once it has English class, it's like all self control goes out the window. He talks to hear himself when he's working (always been very verbal...

hi all- I went through some of my papers and found something my son's speech therapist had given me on verbal perseveration. This is what she called it. I guess perseveration is "getting stuck on things" Anyway, I read back over it, and decided to share it in hopes that maybe it will help someone e...

Echolalia: The immediate and involuntary repetition of words or phrases just spoken by others, often a symptom of autism or some types of schizophrenia. Perseveration: Uncontrollable repetition of a particular ...

I hate to rain on everyone's parade here with the "he'll grow out of it" thoughts, but my husband is 43 and he hasn't. He cuts all his nails with clippers till they bleed. If he doesn't have clippers, he picks even worse. He is very hairy and he picks at his skin, any little imperfection, real or i...

We saw his specialist that prescribes the ADHD meds as well as work through the asperger issues especially where school was concerned. My son takes Biphentin 50 mg (just went up from 40). We are having behaviour issues and I can't seem to get the doctor to understand that I don't think it medication...

For my son it's very painful to watch him write. We had a psychoed done in Grade 5 (he's now in Gr. 7) and learned that there was several reasons for troubles. 1. Visual Processing speed issues - He can't put down from his head to paper as it takes him a while to clearly say what he means. 2. Expres...

I think everything you said is wonderful and I wish the kids in his class were as helpful but the teacher has pretty much taught them to tolerate him instead of understand him. New year starts and we'll move on from this experience. My son has had facebook for about a year (he's 14). We have lots of...

Thank you I really enjoyed reading that. And I will never let them hold him back, if I did then he wouldn't be taking Late Immersion. His grade 6 teacher (teaches most subjects EXCEPT FRENCH) currently had the audacity to say and exact words "Shouldn't he learn his own language first before having h...

New school even asked at a meeting for the transfer if they tried things and the teacher basically said she doesn't do that. Its one way. Her way. But she did not phrase it that way but everyone cou...
