I currently work full time at a combination of three different jobs. This keeps things interesting, I do different things for each job, and expands my social connections for my next job hop. I hate customer service, but I've since developed a work persona that has made this much easier. I still can'... |

What I have done is create an Apgar-like score for myself. An Apgar score is one given to babies on their birth to assess how healthy they are. It's an acronym for Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, Respiration. See link if interested. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apgar_score When I am feeling an... |

I guess my first question would be, what about having a partner makes sex fulfilling as opposed to on your own? Is it sex you are craving, social attachments you most easily understand through sex or something else entirely? When my testosterone was out of control I felt like many here are describin... |

same there. I think this is part of why I avoid photos as well. It doesn't matter what I am trying to do in the picture, my expression is always in transition or it looks like I'm concentrating on keeping my face from slipping off. |

Clearly you need to dump more numbers into your "scary" stats. That might help. |

The second option was the case with my biofamily. Generations with both spectrum disorders and substance abuse combined with poverty can make things rather hellish at times. I don't think they made me Aspie, though they certainly didn't help things! |

@Jermaine Thank you for posting that link. It's a very helpful way to describe what we are after. @ResilientBrilliance It's a weak metaphor, I'll concede that. I forget that there are people in the world who place value judgements on body modification. I think the link by Jermaine and Adamantium got... |

Not going to whine about ME3, old news that. I just finished playing through the trilogy and find I'm having a hard time adjusting to normal game play. I picked up Skyrim finally and find the books to be the most satisfying part. I want to find a way to forge an alliance with the giants. To figure o... |

Before I came to live with my autistic family, I used to be obsessed with "the real me". As if every roaring disapproval, twitching anxiety or fearful jerk were some how the essence of myself. As if not expressing these things and "faking it" would some how ruin my core being. What I have come to un... |

Some people are exceedingly good at reading peoples faces and general body language. It is a natural talent. As spectrum people we know these things can be learned, and as with any magic trick, knowing how it is done lessens the mystery of it. No one told this person that she has a talent for people... |

We are not medically disordered and I find that assertion to be rather infuriating. There is much more neurological diversity in our species and medical and social changes have allowed us to thrive. Who I am is solidly made up of my Aspergers identity and there isn't anything wrong with that. It mea... |

I live in an intentional community with five other spectrum people. Three of them are diagnosed as fully autistic and myself the two others are variously functioning Aspies. It's been the best thing that ever happened to me and I wouldn't go back to my lonely, social shunning life even if you could ... |

The first person to really help me told me something very important. "You don't want to die. You just want to end the life you are living." I've held this close to my heart ever since, because she was right. It's a subtle way of letting yourself know there are other lives to live, other directions t... |
