It's not entirely accurate to say that all scientific theory is wrong. I postulate that my wall is yellow. I can't 100% prove this, but it's probably true. Evolution is very hard to falsify. It encourages the creation of "Just so" stories to explain observed features. One way in which you ... |

If you want to learn to write apps, you could learn Swift for iOS, Java for Android, or JavaScript/HTML5/CSS3 for both, plus the web. They are very different languages with different strengths and cultures. Java is formal, strict and grown up. Swift is brand new and exciting. JavaScript is anarchic ... |

It depends on the platform. Java for Android, Objective-C or Swift for iPhone, C++ for BlackBerry 10 (Java for older BlackBerry OSs), etc. You can also make "web" apps with HTML+CSS+JavaScript. Absolutely correct. I would add that there's a distinction between HTML5 apps (which are writte... |

Yosemite is flat and minimal. When I'm working it's the the thing that I'm building that I'm interested in, not the box it comes in. The OS should be like an art gallery, tasteful, plain, minimal, functional. Skeuomorphism is no longer cool. My screen is not 3D, my address book is not made of paper,... |

Children get priority. This much is obvious. If an adult insults or hurts a child, that adult has lost already.
Also, it's right that you defend your child by any means necessary. |

Hi Momofteenaspie, I'm a 38 YO aspie, and I can very strongly relate to what your son may be experiencing. I have a measured high IQ, not so good executive functioning. I'll let you know how it went for me to hopefully reassure you. School years: * I had terrible executive functioning, I literally c... |

Logically, nothing has changed, it's just a piece of paper, however my experience is that everything changed in the way I felt. My advice: 1. Treat the marriage as something valuable to be defended in it's own right, not just a contract which you gain from. 2. Keep observing and learning always. You... |

Programmer. Awesome. My whole business fits in a backpack. I just open it up and work where I want to.
I'd recommend anyone learning to code if they have an interest in technology. |

I'm also not sure what the NT wife had to do with it It's a detail. What's the big deal? Are people going to get all prickly over being called not autistic now? Us against them mentality- labelling her to emphasise the difference. Probably not a good idea for a family. The family should be the team... |

I'm feeling kind of humbled at this point. I'm fairly used to messing this sort of stuff up, so I assume I'm probably in the wrong. I just wish there weren't so many edge cases to consider. |

Not really, she just said that she thought he shouldn't have known till he was quite a bit older. |

I'm just wondering what point was being made by including that detail, rather than just referring to "my wife." Since that detail was included in the post itself as well as the title, I assumed there must be purpose behind it. And I wasn't sure what the purpose was. For me the purpose was clearly s... |

I get it as: he thinks/thought that his wife wouldn't understand the ASD point of view because she never was in this situation due to being NT all her life. That was my first thought, but I didn't want to assume- there is a lot of assuming going on in this thread. I mentioned that detail because I ... |

My 8 year old boy was recently diagnosed with HFA. It's something my wife has been pushing for for some time because he finds school really difficult. After he got the diagnosis I sat with him in the garden and explained all about Asperger's, and what it might mean for him, mentioning all the plus p... |
