Hi i suggest making your own "white noise" inside your own apartment, not to blast the other apartments into submission, but instead to counter what those outdoor festivals have done -- make you sensitive to interior noise. Perhaps playing something at a comfortable level, that is just loud enough t...

Ed, would it help at all to re-map your notion of "my area"? Like if a friend from the church will take you around an adjacent area, so that it becomes a bit familiar, can you think of it also as your area? If nothing else, this might help expand the area where you feel free to go by public transit...

Please forgive me, I know this is going to sound kind of rough. But have you considered trying to take public transportation again? Perhaps with a friend a first, so you could feel safe? If I knew you, I would help you in this. You know the source of your phobia--that narcissist guy! Don't let him ...

You should contact the pastor and ask him to come see you at your house. He might have some ideas. You said that if a cab picks you up at your house, you are able to get out. Would you be comfortable if someone you trusted from the church came and picked you up? It sounds like you are in a very car...

Just fact-stating. Nothing written in-between the lines. At almost 55 years (diagnosed 12 March 2013) having spent my life undiagnosed, forced by my view of circumstance to regard myself as the unique, non-social weirdo that nobody wants to spend any time with... i don't know what to do with Life or...

Oh Sorry. My aspie storytelling is clear as mud. Charlie. The conundrum. Keep It Simple Silly... -- he was a verbal bully for his first 2 years with us, during which he got baptized and is really turning into a normal person. He was a very bad biker gang member, to put it short. -- he has a silver t...

Thank you for the reply, ASPartOfMe i will try to keep it short. When born naturally took spotlight from youngest older sister, which began her verbally traumatizing me from age zero to 27 when she married away. i know verbal abuse doesn't sound traumatizing but in our isolated home life stuck toget...

Thank you, em_tsuj Going to church is a safe social outlet. It used to be the one happy social experience in my week. But over the past 2 years a bully, who i ignored because it is a church, by my aspergers, deeply internalized his bullying into making church my worst social experience. It takes 3 V...

Do you feel like you are allowed, AS and all? Did you always? If you didn't always, but feel all right being yourself now, how did you get that way? Personally i have lifelong trouble thinking of myself as a valid and worthwhile person. Suspect if i weren't of such a meek and mild nature i might be...

Exactly.
Sometimes we need someone to instruct us.
Of course, he has to be open to instruction.

PS: sorry, i thought the posting of this comment crashed.

Maturity is how well i conduct myself. Generally i feel one can only get as old as the "heart" is. Immaturity i consider to be foolishness. Having just been diagnosed at age 53, just before DSM-V wiped out Aspergers, i've discovered a lot of the "whys" about myself that i previously thought was my d...
