Zer0netgain, I am so sorry to hear that you are hurting so badly. Please, please do not give up hope even though things are very difficult for you right now. Often times, people do not fully know how much they are cared about by others because they are in a fog of sadness and depression. Family memb...

I understand what you are referring to. Although having difficulty with filtering background noise may be true in the majority of aspies, I'm sure it varies from person to person. Most of the time if there is a lot going on (loud conversations, sounds, lights, etc) it get overwhelming because I'm he...

To respond to what linatet said, yes, I think it is mainly due to excitement. I used to "hand flap" all the time when I would get very excited and happy about something (though it was less of a flapping motion and more of a fluttering jazz-hands type motion while I shifted from foot to foot). I have...

Someone will say something to me, the words will "enter my ears" so to speak, but then they stay sitting stagnant in my mind for a little bit. Yes, this is exactly what I'm talking about. The words are all simple enough to understand but for some reason they just sit in my head for a while and feel...

Really interesting reading these responses. I actually never considered it could be "mental echolalia". I guess it is some kind of delayed processing of certain words and phrases because another way of describing it is that whatever gets stuck on a loop seems "blurry" in my mind until I can work thr...

Thanks for the response. Repeating it out loud is usually what works for me (in my regular voice, since I can't do impressions, haha). It's certainly annoying when it's happening though.

I seem to experience this frequently and was wondering who else could identify with this feeling. I don't quite know if it has to do with the way information is processed but that's the best way I can think to describe it. Anyway, it's like certain sentences and scenarios get stuck in my head. On a ...

- I agree with vickygleitz on the matter of adoption. There are so many families out there longing for a child and I personally believe that adoption is the best and most loving thing a person can do for their child if they feel that they cannot care for them. . Are you suggesting if the child is a...

mrsprocrastinator, let me start by saying that I am sorry you are dealing with so much stress right now. I know you're getting a lot of different responses, but if I may offer my two cents... - I know it may seem like an insurmountable task at the moment, but don't fear the worst. It is easy to look...
