That depends on what kind of animal you are asking. A dog would say sticking to the group, a cat would survive better alone than enduring maltreatment in a group. Once you know your style you have to learn to adjust. In a pack of wolves, the alpha is the wolf that learns to hunt solo. In a pack of ... |

I think this is more a question of extroversion vs introversion. Or even more specifically, a collectivist mentality versus that of an individualist one. In nature who do you think survives? The guy that sticks to the group for protection or the hero that goes solo? If you really want what's best fo... |

Ok, I understand the sentiment here but from my own perspective, being social has become less of a contrived effort even though in the beginning that was how it was. I didn't mean to insinuate that you were impolite but I realised from experience that there is a wealth of interaction when you look s... |

Really? I have never found this to be true for me. Absolutely. I have improved my language impairments, my ability to read social cues, my theory of mind amongst a bunch of other things. I can be obsessive about certain things but I see it as a kind of asset as long as it helps me to attain skills ... |

Thank you for taking the time to write a reply, Opi. I think I have the opposite problem of people thinking I need time to myself when in actual fact, I would be grateful for the company. My question is, how would it be known that most people do not have some degree of autistic spectrum disorder? Ar... |

I remember an advert where a mum was with her kid in a supermarket and when the little girl asked for something her mum wouldn't get, she threw a tantrum, crawled around on the floor wailing with tears. She wouldn't stop it, so the mother did the same thing but even louder and more obtrusive, everyo... |

No, I don't believe everyone is autistic. What is true is that everyone is a person. If the label is bothering you, drop the labels and see people as people, and let them know this. Even if they use the label, you can respond to them as a person, with respect for them and yourself. I do and I have ... |

Nowadays more and more people are being diagnosed with high functioning autism and people who are at all socially awkward or struggle in other areas of their life are looking for answers from these kinds of tests. I also know someone who is mildly autistic - or has been labelled with high functionin... |

For me I always felt more needy when I wasn't involved in lots of clubs and societies, so if most of your free time is spent doing not much you will feel a lot more lonely. Coincidentally, these are the best places to make friends and the more friends you have, the less desperate you appear, the mor... |

I'm going to be brutally honest and I hate to say this because I don't think you're a bad person but the reason you are being 'perceived' as stalking/harassing people is because you are stalking and harassing people . If you want to improve then you have to call a cigar a cigar: 1. Know the facts 2.... |

No, because if you appear insincere in your praise or flattery that will make people distrust you, as if you are only praising them because you want something out of them. People think you are honest if you sincerely believe in what you say. |

Thank you for the compliment, and since I was in a rush earlier, I will add a few more things and add some more in a few days, if I think there is anything worth adding. I might point out that according to the Lorna Wing triangle of impairments, the three main differences between a person with asper... |

Hey all, I have a condition which is similar but arguably not the same as asperger's - pragmatic language impairment. Think of it as asperger's where the speech and language impairments are worse but I have a heightened sense of social awareness. I am not fully aware of all the subtle differences or... |

Hi, Thanks for taking the time to respond to my post. Maybe that's the conclusion of that particular book, mind you, but that's not true. There are a lot of theories about autism, and although, yes, many of the popular ones from the past decade have blamed self-absorption, etc ("they're in their ow... |

Your first post was far too long to read the entire thing, but I did catch that from the start your condition is not officially diagnosed. Unless you later said that an official diagnosis was eventually obtained, then things are as they are. I'd suggest you get yourself evaluated so that you can kn... |

I have a friend who is French and I was talking to him about Asperger's, but he had no idea what it was and when I explained he said something like, "well, most of these psychologists like to throw labels around but they don't mean anything". I was quite shocked because I am at a university where mo... |
