I don't know if you have the same detail-memory loss that eye contact causes me, but, if you do, that should be explained to others if they ask. "I'm sorry, but I can remember what you are saying better if I look away sometimes." I have never needed to explain why.

"Eye" totally understand...sincerely; I really do. I'm 38 and just have never been able to look into others' eyes (for more than, like, two seconds). I thought your description of a "zing" going down your spine and tense muscles was "spot on"! I don't undetstand it, either, man. Sorry. In college (g...

Welcome I'm glad you're here, now ("signed in"/ a member), because I think, from how you've described yourself, you'll find lots of people, here, who are similar to you; I think you'll make similar-personality friends :) To me, it sounds like you're on "The Spectrum", but I'm new to all of this, too...

For some it's a romantic idea, for others it's a commitment within a religious context, for still others it's a legal arrangement that confers some benefits over just living together. In some places it still confers social status. I've been both ma...

I commend you for learning about ASD (and trying to understand your friend and yourself.) You're right in that -- you just hafta be yourself and allow others to be themselves.

It sounds like you're being patient :).

I'm glad you've found this site helpful. (I have, too.)

Good luck
