Depending on the severity of your depression, if you are close to eating a bullet or cutting arteries, try putting a rubber band (preferably big, like the ones used to hold together broccoli) around your wrist and snapping it. Physical pain will distance you from the agony in your mind. |

I had an IQ test done as part of a neuropsychological exam. The WAIS-IV. My Working Memory and Processing Speed scores dragged me down all the way down to a Full Scale IQ of 127 despite my "Very Superior (98th percentile)" range for Verbal Comprehension and Perceptual Reasoning. The Dr. to... |

And the worst of all : when you're in a very bad situation, like you've just been diagnosed with incurable cancer, and "It's going to be all right". Comforting allows telling blatant lies... My wife has terminal cancer. I never get angry, seriously, except for: "Pray to God, s... |

There are many ways to check if you have ASD. The online tests are a good start. A high blood serotonin level or an enlarged Caudate nucleus is a dead giveaway. There are many physical traits in which the autistic brain differs from an NT's. An MRI will cinch it, one way or another. Autism is define... |

Just a few off the top of my head: "Hi! how are you doing?" ............This one drives me absolutely bonkers . Firstly, the NT doesn't give a rat's ass how I am doing, and useless talk is annoying! as well as being.... USELESS!! If I were to actually sit down with that grocery clerk or wh... |

In my case, the only other person in my life who is "Real", is my wife. Other people are like shadows to me, difficult to remember names (up to 3 years to learn a co-worker's name!), people have a very minimal impact on my life. I suffer big-time from MDD, which has been getting unbelievab... |

When I am at my lowest, physical pain is the only thing that will reduce the agony of my depression. |

Didn't find out I had autism until 2 years ago. The damn psychiatrists up here in Alaska are 95% rejects that barely passed their boards. They'd been treating me for the 4 years prior to my diagnoses as a Bipolar with no "Good manias", just the bad ones, the dysphoric manias. My "Ups&... |

However, I believe that the pharmaceutical industry will suppress any studies that indicate there may be long-term harmful effects from these meds. Holy s**t, I didn't even think about Big Pharma messing with SSRI + ASD studies. Might explain why I can't find any straightforward research that says ... |

Hi everyone, I've never felt happy in my life unless while under the influence of drugs/alcohol. I've also struggled with MDD as long as I can remember; my first wrist cuts came at the age of 5 or 6. Somehow I've managed to live to the ripe old age of 43 despite daily suicidal ideation. 7 years ago,... |

Here's mine. Sorry about how long it is. A happy memory I am a high functioning autistic with a good memory (and awful social skills). This story is a pretty accurate representation of what really happened. The test itself is burned into my mind, and is precisely what happened. This is not a story o... |

Sherlock, thanks for the reply, but suicidal thoughts aren't whats causing my problem. When I am feeling normal, suicide is just a vague probability to occur in the future. I can live with the dull depression of everyday existence. I need advice on how to break out of the torture of my focused conce... |

I have occasional periods of 3-6 days where I'll focus in on my problems, concentrating so fully that they blot out the rest of the world. They are sparked by new information that negatively impacts me. Previously these episodes have been pretty bad, to where I'd think about offing myself to escape ... |
