@MathematicalOwl- the hoverfly is truly impressive. I'm so glad you shared it. However, it makes me wonder, did you continue drawing past 9? @Bun- I used to write short plays- and my dialogue, I am sure were worse than yours. However if I had been diagnosed or self diagnosed when I was younger, I ma...

Even my little sister did this to me--and still does a lot. She liked me okay until she started school. As soon as she started interacting with neurotypical kids, she realized her big sister was freaky weird, and started tormenting me just like my female peers did. It's awful. It flies in the face ...

Boys were never attracted to me, so other girls were not feeling threatened yes, in my experience the girl bully thing is absolutely about sexual competition. In both cases I was bullied at work there was sexual competitiveness going on. Not on my part! But they imagined it and it was real to them....

The comment about lower-tier women being prone to baby-seal-clubbing has been my experience. Twice at my work place, I have been the victim of packs of women. In the first case, it was a bunch of administrative girls who would single out smart girls to torture. The girls who were cut out to actually...

yes, dark and mysterious is great! You don't have to be good looking, just not slothful or stinky :) or creepy. However it's unlikely I would walk up to anyone dark and mysterious to initiate conversation unless I already knew something about you that I liked (i.e. that you are a great writer, or th...

Maybe the insight would help him. However, if you introduce it with the intention of changing him or 'improving' or 'normalizing' him, then I could not imagine anyone would welcome the info. A friend first introduced the idea to me that I was kind of aspie-- initially I laughed and brushed it off as...

I was too intimidated to go into science when I was your age, because I could not handle the discrimination from my physics teacher and physics peers (all men) at that age ( I am not a man). Also, I had doubts about my ability to be a scientist if I was not absolutely brilliant in math. Also, I was ...

Once I was having lunch with my coworkers at an outdoor cafe. My boss pulled out a cookie, his dessert, looked at a nearby bird, and said, "you can't have this." Within a couple seconds, the bird flew about six feet toward my boss, and stopped within a foot of his face, turned its body in midair, th...

Growing up one of the only Asians in an almost completely white town, I was unaware that anything was unusual about me except that I was Asian. I simply thought my differences were due to being Asian! Now though, I know a lot more Asians, and I'm pretty sure I'm an aspie! It took me really really re...

I really appreciate this thread & and the diversity of experiences you have all shared. I am a career artist. I'm in my 40s. Only recently, however, did I realize I am likely to be aspie. I am not diagnosed. (btw aspie score 167/ NT score 66) Looking back at the artwork I created throughout most...

yes, meditation is really really helpful when you get the hang of it. As a beginner, you might find workshops especially helpful. If the zen center is too far for you, have you looked up other options, like Shambala and Kadampa and more casual new agey ones? I probably tried about five teachers befo...

Yes, I'm interested in this thread. I've been checking out different meditation workshops in a casual kind of way over a period of years. I don't think meditating on my own without guidance is very productive, for me at least. Today I went to check out a new meditation center. I really liked it, but...

Good for you to finally approach him! Now he knows you are interested in talking more. Once you get more comfortable casually chatting with him, you can learn a lot more about him. It seems like so far, you are making lots of assumptions based on second hand information about this guy. For example, ...
