I am still learning about the co-morbids of ASD (of which I have many, including ADHD, GAD, MDD), and I have just learned about Sensory Processing Disorder. I was wondering: Is it possible to have SPD and not have ASD? I also have major issues with Executive Function, so that could just be a co-morb... |

if you think you might be a little bit autistic, you're very probably are not". She is saying if you think you have autistic type traits, but they aren't keeping you from having a normal life , then it's likely not autism. OTOH, If you see the diagnostic criteria for AS/HFA and say to yourself: " O... |

I have a fear of toilets. Specifically the back of the toilet. I can't handle it when the lid is off. I'll just hold it. I'd rather poo in a forest than poo in a toilet with the back of it off. Also have a fear that the toilet water will be too high or that it will overflow while I'm on the toilet. ... |

PURPLE!! ! Didn't develop a strong need for this color in my life until the past year or so. Favorite used to be light blue for years as a teen. |

I am currently on an SSRI Paroxetine (generic Paxil). I become rage-induced from the withdrawal symptoms, and nobody believes it is due to the drug Can't imagine why they wouldn't believe that, Paxil has been associated with many homicidal rages: >>SSRIs and violence<< >>Psyche Meds Link<< I became... |

I have a feeling this is a child...someone who is in high school learning about different conditions. I agree with the other posters: if this person were legitimate, they would have listed their credentials (class they are enrolled in, college they are attending, assignment, etc.). I have already fi... |

I read it and felt like it described me 90% of the time. I read the book to my boyfriend a few chapters a night until we finished it so he could get a sense of what's in my head (they are short: 3-5 pages each). He laughed every time I came across a new trait Rudy described --they all fit me to a T.... |

My nickname in our house is "Mensa"... a funny/nicer way of saying I'm being a know-it-all and to cut it out. |

No, only at home when necessary. Earplugs when stressed. Most of the time I wear one earplug in my left ear because it's more sound/pressure sensitive than my right. If I block out one ear, generally I can process okay with the other. |

I can never recognize people outside of the situation from which I know them. Like if I met a person at a job and I saw them outside of said job, I would have no idea who they are. Happens all the time. I always chalk it up to "Oh I didn't recognize you with that hat/haircut/etc." People are usually... |

It's called the Aspire Center for Learning. They say on their website that they specialize in adult women with ASD. This is one of the only places I've found that does. I think I found one in Michigan and one in Colorado, but NY is easiest for me.

I am self-diagnosed, I suppose. I really believe I am on the spectrum, and I saw a psychiatrist recently (literally for 30 minutes--- NOT a specialist, btw) who told me I don't have Aspergers. It was like a punch in the gut. It was insulting because I felt like she didn't believe me or even hear tha... |

I will add that even when I was working paycheck to paycheck and barely scraping by/in debt, I could always rely on my looks (in a good way, not a slu*ty way...lol). Now I have money, and life is much easier, but that has nothing to do with Aspergers. People don't respect me more the more money I ha... |
