Im really glad that went well :D the NAS has some good books for children explaining autism, I expect they will post to denmark or you could look them up on NAS then find them on amazon. My daughter felt really bad about having autism and being different at first but the books are really useful. I ... |

They HAVE to make more money! Otherwise, they will do less, etc... In the US, even with full insurance and/or medicare, more work means more money, even if the patient pays NOTHING! And HECK, my uncle, in Denmark(Believe it or not), is getting less care, because he is older! So the Danish system is... |

It wasn't a big deal for us, as my kiddo's big deal is the whole "shots, blood type stuff"...not medicines...Why do they use a "general anesthesia???" Can't they just give him something orally? I think that's just a way for the doctors/hospitals to make more money... We live in Denmark & all ou... |

My autie son loves Christmas! I start preparing him for Christmas a long time ahead & tell him exactly what date we'll be putting up the tree & what date we'll be taking it down. I let him choose what decorations we put on the tree. D especially finds the tree lights fascinating. D does get ... |

Thanks for all of your very helpful replies! :D Aspie1, I very much appreciated your detailed description of the MRI. I found it very interesting! Triangular-Trees, I have noticed that my son is calmer if people don't make a fuss of him. Thank you for reminding me to point that out to the medical st... |

Does your daughter show any other signs of autism? The National Autistic Society is an excellent source for information on autism. I recommend their page on the Triade of Impairments (click here for link).
PS: I'm also a SAffer! |

My 6 year old autie son will be going for a MRI under general anaesthetic in a couple of weeks time. He has been diagnosed with infantile autism & has an asymmetrical skull & suspected epilepsy. As yet my son is unaware that he has these problems. We use PECS with him & will write a soci... |

Thanks for some very helpful advice, Pippin. I will try your suggestions with the food. D has been very "fragile" today & had two meltdowns over very minor things. I have noticed that if I let him retreat to one of his obsessions after a meltdown, he calms down quite quickly. He also said that h... |

I've read several of your threads, Katrine. You really are having a tough time! I understand what you mean about no time to be with yourself. My son has always suffered from seperation anxiety. Is your son as interested in clock watching as my son is? The clock is my saviour at bedtime. D knows that... |

D & I came home yesterday. The last 3 days have been very stressful, especially for D, but we are finally getting somewhere. All his medical tests (bloods etc) have come back normal, which is a good sign. D is still waiting to have an EEG & MRI done. However, he was so stressed in the hospit... |

I try to choose shops that have ceiling fans because I know my son will be entertained & I can shop in peace. I usually gently remind him to watch where he's going & if necessary, guide him. If my hubby is also bored in the shop, he'll often sit with my son where they can have a good v... |

Thanks for the name of that book, Katrine. I'll have a look at it. Today we took D to our GP as he's still not eaten anything, is very depressed & is looking so ill. She is not happy with his state of health so on Monday we have to take him to the hospital & they'll probably be admitting him... |
