I feel like this is what depresses me most -the LGBTQ+ community talks about acceptance and understanding but there are lots of people who don't live up to it. I mean ultimately I know there are always going to be jerks in every group -people are people. But I think this (people saying you have to b... |

Anxiety is a huge thing for me and I have panic disorder as well as autism. If you're having a panic attack and you're at home you can lie flat on your stomach for 10 min. to help regulate your breathing. While you're doing this you can distract yourself by reading, listening to music ect. Panic att... |

I don't hate men on the spectrum -sure there's a few individuals I haven't gotten along with but that was more about not having anything in common with them or not liking their attitude not about them being on the spectrum. Just because we're all autistic doesn't mean we're all going to be best frie... |

I had noisy neighbours and honestly after the 3rd night of noise until 2am I called campus police. If they're not breaking quiet hours there may not be much you can do -unless you talk to them and the RA about it together and try to come up with a compromise. Find out when quiet hours are -ours were... |

Your bedroom -if it's one bedroom per person -might wind up being your space. The common areas you might have to compromise. |

Yes in that I was away from home in a new town for the first time and change is something I'm terrible at. Being open about my autism helped but mostly I stayed in my room between classes. Most of my roommates were good -though there was second year where all the other girls in the house were from w... |

I lived in a university dorm for 6 years. Disclosure is big. If your room mates know that you're on the spectrum it should help them understand -your RA too. Mostly I kept to myself in my own room. Some survival tips I found helpful 1. do not talk behind your roommate's backs, if you have a problem ... |

Will the teacher post notes online so all students have access to them? Will the teacher allow the lecture to be tape recorded? |

Hi everyone, I'm working with my college to help raise awareness to staff about students with autism/asperger's in the classroom. Was there anything that really helped your child through college/university or even high school? Or anything you want staff to know? |

are there classmates you can ask for notes? Or maybe disability services programs at the school that can help speak to your teachers about getting notes or test accommodation? I understand that you're shy -I'm nervous about asking staff for things too even though it's a teacher's job to provide help... |

Hey First, take a deep breath. Is he healthy -like eating well? Is he self harming (hitting his head against the floor or with his hands or biting himself or you?) If so see a doctor right away. If you have any doubts or concerns about your son you need to see a doctor and tell them about what you'r... |

I know I love my cat because when I think that one day she will get old and die and that I will have to live without her it makes my chest tight and hurt and the same thing happens when I think about losing my mom and that's how I know I love them. Other than that...I've never romantically loved som... |

I have a bottle of my emergency meds for anxiety that I carry and just know they're there if I need them. But I always have headphones and books -always. I'm not as restricted but I can listen to the same song for hours and hours. I obsess about which fork and knives I use from the kitchen drawer (there are these pieces of cutlery that have been brought home with my dad from work and I just don't know where they've been or who they belong to). I have... |
