Just in case anyone stumbles across.... Bupropion is excellent for me, especially in combination with buspirone. Sweet spot. I can focus, and anxiety drops away.

Buspirone and meditation changed my life. I just struggle to convey what these two things have done for me.

I found Buspirone (buspar generic) has worked really well. I can't quite believe what life used to be like.

These are all things you like a lot. None of these qualify as addiction. It is over-focused on self, and disrepectful to the real battles that genuine addicts are fighting, to keep on with this. I take issue with statements like this. Yes, an addiction to Coca-Cola isn't nearly as serious as an add...

I was diagnosed at 36, in a similar situation to you. I wanted the diagnosis for several reasons. Firstly, I'm intelligent, so I know that lots of people BS themselves into thinking they have all sorts of things - how many times have you heard some irritating moron describe themselves as being 'OCD ...

None of the things here seem to add up to addiction. If you've met people with addictions, and seen what it does to their minds, their bodies and their families, I think it would become fairly clear, fairly quickly, that liking Coke, and convincing yourself that you get back pains when you stop drin...

And indeed that last post was spectacularly off-topic...as if US health insurers don't have a track record of cost-consciousness to the point of family bankruptcy and even death. Here's my experience of getting a diagnosis as an adult in the UK (36 years old). I go to the GP, tell him about the situ...

My gym makes me sign up in advance to classes - then will automatically put them with a reminder in my smartphone diary! That has had a really good effect on going along. And sitting in a spin class or standing in a circuit class is just fine - I don't have to talk, negotiate, or anything. I just li...

It's not a magic bullet - I meditate as well (and glad to see you do tai chi - these things are important). But buspirone has taken the edge off some of the residual anxiety. It takes about 6 weeks to work, though! And I had to titrate up to 35mg a day. It made me feel a bit dizzy at first, but I wo...

I found buspirone took the edge off many situations. I'm just talking about the pharmacological way of doing things here. (I think we all need to think about coaching, mindfulness, exercise, diet and a whole bunch of other stuff too...)

I found meditation to be the best way. Your anxiety is in your mind; you gotta spend time there, routinely, looking at where the problem is and allowing your attention (training your attention) to shift from the anxiety to some other thing. I found, ultimately, that Buddhist meditation classes (espe...

Thanks for being so honest about your situation. I can suggest some tips for you that worked for me. First of all, I had to accept that I had to do something to manage irritability - and not once, but dozens of times a day, every day, for the rest of my life. There was no 'cure'. That was step one: ...
