Has anyone applied to work for this Aspie-friendly company? I did. They had me take a test where I had to compare "spec pages" of a website to "site pages." They said I failed the test, but I'm confused as to how. I thought I was very thorough. Has anyone else applied there?

I recently got back into online dating. I messaged a guy I thought seemed interesting and within a couple of days of chatting we found out we were both Aspie, and we rejoiced. It's not clear whether it will be a friendship or more, because it's probably going to be hard to meet for a while (distance...

Mine is more noticeable, to myself at least, when I'm under stress or at work (which go together). It's also more noticeable the more people I'm trying to talk to at once. It's very noticeable when I'm with NTs who are my age and gender-- people whose lives are incredibly different from my own. I im...

I have learned that to make others comfortable, and to survive in a neurotypical world, it seems to be important to minimize my intensity, to generally act calm, and to be supportive toward other people. What is the experience other people have of the cost of learning to give people what they ask f...

It sounds like he might like her but be shy about expressing it. I think cat books are a great flirting gambit, being a fan of both cats and books myself.

Deuterium is right, we often don't let people have another chance. I was actually pondering this earlier today, the binary nature of Aspies. I feel like I have an on/off switch with people. There is a line people have crossed with me where I know I can never feel the same about them again. The one p...

Find out his special interests and talk to him about them. He will want to tell you everything about them and if you sincerely enjoy listening to him, that will help build a friendship. It might stay platonic, though, depending on his comfort zone and sexuality.

No, because I'm a man and all fesbianismists are carpet munching peckerphobes. This thread is pretty much the equivalent of shouting, "Fellow Caucasian males of our great Rhodesia, who amongst us would marry a filthy n****r?" on a Saturday night in Zimbabwe. Pffft. Serious response - no. I don't be...

I don't have a partner, and when I was married, I was undiagnosed. With that caveat, here are some things that my ex did that baffled and annoyed me. (If I'd known I was an Aspie, it might have been different). I also want to add that my ex was not neurotypical. He had a diagnosis of Minimal Brain D...

Positive books that are written by people who are on the spectrum themselves, because we're the real experts. There are too many books that are written by "Autism Warriors". I agree. So far, Tony Attwood is the only non-autistic author I've read who truly "gets" us. The others seem to think we are ...

For people with AS... I have heard that people with AS have high levels of anxiety. I have a few questions about what that looks like. Does you have anxiety the whole time or does it come and go? Would you describe your anxiety as coming in short strong bursts, or in long lasting waves? I would des...

All of them interest me! Looks like I've got a lot of work ahead. C'mon Valerie, which one do you like the most ? If you could only write about one of these topics, which would you choose? Right now I'm thinking the self-identity one, with a little bit of autobiography thrown in for co...
